Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Vacation Rule Changes

What could be the thinking behind the recent vacation rule changes? No more continuous carryover and only 10 days carryover allowed. What does this buy the company? Are they trying to keep people from building up a buffer that makes it easier for them to quit?

Got 50 days paid out. They definitely didn’t like that! 😏.

I got paid out for 40 vacation days. I’m certain XOM didn’t like paying that out.

You are right more layoffs are coming. I do have to laugh if they disser it coming. I knew many people who intentionally carried over days as a hedge to layoff.

They don’t want a repeat of Phase 1 and 2. The folks that left either on the Involuntary program or retired got extreme vacation payouts. They got pay for 2019, 2020 AND 2021. The Company wasn’t expecting that at all!! Phase 3 and 4 is just around the corner and payouts will be less.

Think about how you report your vacation now. It’s likely thru a new system, right? It makes for an easier transition to move Payroll/time writing etc to a low cost country... likely India. More people without a job or not needed. What scares me most is where our personal information is going and who is going to be handling that information. What are those countries privacy laws?

I sure as hell won’t be waiting until December. Staying here is for s—ers. Everyone run for the exit. The building is on fire.

Save up all your vacation and then quit before December so they have to pay it out to you.
