Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Long-term effects of laying off the best?

What can I expect as an average employee if they laid off a man from whom I learned from the beginning, but also during all these years that I have been here? Terrible, I think this company will very quickly feel what a mistake they made when they fired the best of the best.

Although I am not really worried about this company because I intend to leave this sinking ship, I am still interested in how their reckless moves will be reflected in the long run? I have friends from another company in the industry and they now have a big problem with recalling employees who will not return.

The loss of institutional knowledge, and the ability of the experienced personnel to innovate, is a serious consequence of dumping the "overpriced" (read: experienced & older) employees.
