We will bever have power until we get contractors out of our towns. Union contract need to be changed next tine it up. Stop Altice abuse.

The Cwa is interested in recruiting altice and its contractors being a former cable vision employee I highly recommend joining if approached
Many other industries do not allow contracted workers. Do your research Union did us wrong.
The Union contracts are weak and the strength of Unions comes in numbers. You are not going to get much having a few shops Union. Only things i see the contracts help with is not getting laid off which is good. When a tech leaves my shop they never get replaced with a in house tech. In the End union or not I would be looking for another job.

Total troll post.You cant tell by the blatant spelling errors and grammar mishaps?I recommend you apply for any SCTE/NCTI classes you can participate in.Up youre certs and if there isnt any opportunity for advancement internal,transfer somewhere there is.Those will stay with you regardless of where you choose to go.
As someone who has left Altice, I have to agree with 1ssm+19PAtF0q. It’s time to move on. I see your point about the union earning its keep with these instances where they stepped up to the plate but, the reality is that those contracts don’t last forever and once they expire, Altice is going to have a field day. They’re snakes and they’ll wait patiently to strike and have their day of reckoning.
To the post 1ssm+19PAtF0q I understand your frustration and yes at times it is frustrating working for these guys cause they are always trying to mess with you being they have no idea what they are doing . But for long time employees that like the job they just can’t leave it’s just not that easy for everyone. I can say this that yes even with a union the company still has managerial rights saying they can run the company any way they want but with a contract there are rules put in place and that without the union you wouldn’t have a leg to stand on . I have personally seen in last few years , rules that were just made up on the fly be broken and now there is a standard such as the company always made you use sick or personal for a bad weather day , now we can use vacation day like always asked for . I’ve seen guys laid off and then once the union saw they were still using contract labor the union got the laid off employees in union shops their jobs back . I’ve seen the company try to punish union depots got to an all weekend shift and then once the union saw contractors were still used they got the shifts reverted back to original shifts . I’ve seen guys get in trouble and still keep their raise where even under cablevision that tech would have lost most of that raise .I’ve seen the company go after just one guy and try to fire that person and yet again the union was able to save that persons job due to the company didn’t really have much on that person it was more of a senior position person not agreeing with the other person. So while everyone wants to say the company is doomed and unions do nothing . Take a look at some of the things I just mentioned and tell me when any of this has ever happened when there wasn’t a union in place ?
The union means nothing. You don’t work for the IBEW or the CWA or whoever represents you; Altice is who you work for and they will run their business however they want. You haven’t figured this out yet? They don’t care. They’re not going to respect labor laws, union contacts, nothing. Just let it go because things will never be favorable while working for Altice. This company is shot. Ruined. Time to move on.
u can demand all u want but at the end of the day the company altice has to agree to the terms the union wants for their guys and they don’t have too. they can tell the union to go kick rocks and you’ll be out of contract till they agree on something and it might be worse then what u had
Contractors are the ones making the work. Its job security, the more the better. But if there's layoffs get rid of them 1st!
