Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Union Pacific lowest rated company on Glassdoor 3 years running.

The CEO is still in the single digits. Only 14% would recommend to a friend. At the end of this year UP will be ranked the worst company to work for 3 years in a row based on ratings. Some people try to be dismissive and say nobody cares, but they do. That’s why these websites exist and why articles are published with rankings every year. UP will never be able to recover it’s reputation and hire quality applicants. It is sad to see what a once great company has become.

That's what you get when so much executive compensation is tied to stock price

Where is south morrill? Is that on the planet Nobody Cares? Maybe I’ll research it after I mark up from laying off. Probably not though.

3iyz+19QUcaLd you are right, they will not discipline you all for laying off... they can and will close your shop though. Just ask those from the South Morrill shop how that attitude worked out for them.

We all lay-off at my location. Nobody gives a s—t anymore. Can’t fire everyone for laying off. People can only take so much abuse.

Of course the execs don’t care. If they did the company wouldn’t be the way it is. That doesn’t matter.

Good thing is UP is now known by everyone as a really bad place to work and qualified hard working young people now have this info and won’t waste time there trying to fix a broken system that they don’t want fixed.

UP isn’t even respected by locals in Omaha anymore.

The board of directors, execs, and stockholders who are getting very wealthy DON’T care. These ratings mean nothing to them. The only people that care about the Glassdoor ratings are the employees. This is brought up every couple of weeks, with it being said how horrible this is, UP’s reputation is shot, etc. The truth is none of this matters to those who make the decisions on the direction of the company. Organization’s have been downsizing for the past several decades with various results. The companies that proactively downsize (those that are not in financial difficulty) always take a public relations hit, but companies keep doing this. There is a large amount of research that has been done about corporate downsizing. The consensus is downsizing is great for short term financial gains and usually results in stock prices increasing. In the long term downsizing has a detrimental effect on companies in loss of reputation, loss of institutional knowledge, and lost productivity due to low employee morale. The board and stockholders aren’t in this for the long term. They want the stock and dividends to go as high as possible so they can cash out. That is way these ratings have no factor on decisions being made.
