Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

Why are you complaining?

I see so much of it here. If you don’t like WFT then make a plan to leave. People act like this company has done them wrong but this is a business, and like all businesses you get paid for your services. I know layoffs happen but they happen all the time and in every industry. The only thing you can do is prepare for it or leave. Complaining about it won’t change anything.

Think of all the inputs. The fuel. The hours. The miles. The capital...The hiring and firing. All the resources that were used to make wft run. And all for nothing.

It's understandable why people would complain. Mismanagement, executives brining their cronies onboard, keeping ineffective managers whilst showing good people the door, all of these things have hurt WFT far more than any downturn. Of course layoffs and cutbacks are part and parcel of working in oil and gas, but when so many have lost their jobs due to poor corporate governance there will be resentment to spare.

Usually you would be right. However, this company doesn’t want to listen to anyone else’s ideas or thoughts. It’s the same old song and dance, expecting different outcomes. Every year, furlough and pause the RRSP. Then bring it back for Q1, then off for Q 2&3.

The author of this thread is so foolish. Critical feedback is good as it offers creative ideas and thought processes. It often causes good changes instead of failing over and over.

Wft has not adapted to the new reality. Wft needs 75 dollar oil to be viable

If you work for a company that does not make a profit you will get hurt sooner or later but be sure your day will come

That’s only part of the complaining though. Yes, businesses in the private sector are always doing layoffs, you need to do what you have to to make your business succeed. However, with WFT, they spend foolishly on high salaries, and don’t put away for slow times. You can be busy like crazy, going all out, and the next 2 weeks are slow so they lay people off. It’s trash.
