Is there any way to get promoted here other than being buddies with somebody in the management?

Try doing your job to begin with. Your probably on the clock posting on here.
You must absolutely have a special dispensation from management. That means that if you are a relative long timer that you are a long time buddy and or s— up rear kisser. Or you are relatively new and just working furiously and fawning over any manager that happens by because after all you are so so so glad they are giving you an opportunity just to bask in their presence . Also after flinging water on your face to appear you have broken a sweat you must complain to a manager that so many people are just not trying and are blatantly not following company protocol like , well , You ! after all you are crossing all those Ts and dotting those I s just like any strong dedicated worker should. Study this little how to and you to can become a Team Lead. Oh yea there is one other way and that is if you have truly drank the koolaid and believe that you matter at all.
Psssh whoever said do a good job u don't have to be friends must be one of the friends of the mangers or a manger cause every one can tell u that is some major bs. Lol
If you never learned that you need to get into the good graces of the people with the people with hiring and firing power over you and control your raises, you are a failure of the education system.

I've only see it happen by having a secret relationship or heavily flirting with a manager.
Do a good job and you have to communicate. You dont have to be friends with the managers, but you do have to talk to them.
