Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Nike is trapped in a short term numbers game

As soon as Parker promised Wall St. 50B in revenue by 2020 any great ideas went away. Thinking that big requires time, but Nike is now trapped in a short term numbers game every FY quarter. Instead of new ideas, we get more reorgs and layoffs to satisfy investors. At any rate, it seems to be working great for them as Nike continues to rake in the $$ doing whatever it is they're doing.

Exactly this. Reposted from @1ypa+19N3LrnF.

the $50b goal was announced on a whim with little forethought as to how it was going to get done. thats why it’s rarely talked about anymore. same thing with half the impact.

Mark did not promise 50 Billion, Phil did, and Mark passed it along and did hell of job juicing the c-ap out of the company.

Nike has not made 50 Billion yet, but Phil is worth 52 Billion.....go figure.

But we can still afford to donate to obscure & sketchy "urban relief" causes, in the same week 9 people were sent packing from my team, including a handicapped single parent. Optics is not even a word in the NKE dictionary.
