Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

How much have you learned while working here?

work the job to learn as much as you can while you can watch for other jobs. You can decide to stay or go after a while ... listen to your gut and weigh that against your other life commitments. A retail worker typically makes $ 11 / hr and has to show up at the store to do physical work and deal with customers inside the store. This job sounds better than the retail worker as a start.

: Someone gave good advice and I tried to learn as much as possible, however, I had to fight for all my knowledge.

I learned how to recognize that you're working for a terrible employer and the red flags to pick up on. In that sense UHG is the best mentor!!!!

The racial discrimination against a black female manager I have witnessed is beyond epic. HR closed the case doing NOTHING.

Honestly, not much. I joined the organization with a pretty strong skillset and haven’t really grown much here despite looking for opportunities and working on my skills on my own time. My department is 10-15 years behind industry best practices with no strategic plan to catch up.

I actually learned a lot about a PBM’s operation along with medicare, Medicaid and commercial health. However, along with this I also learned a lot about race and age discrimination, the vulgarness of an extramarital affair between a superior and his employee and the lack of morality and integrity of this organization.

They make it complicated to learn and people are not willing to truly mentor and do it with attitude. Toxic work environment. Did I learn on my own the hard way? Sure! But I now never refer anyone to them. I learned but would not do it again. Not worth it. Do something else that actually brings you joy instead of wasting your life away being apart of this corporate monster. Remember, you’re just a 9 digit number
