IBM’s Rob Thomas details key AI trends in shift to hybrid cloud

VentureBeat: How do you size up the competitive landscape?

Thomas: Watson components can run anywhere. The real question is why is nobody else
enabling their AI to run anywhere? IBM is the only company doing that. My thesis is that most of
the other big AI players have a strategy tax. If your whole strategy is to bring everything to our
cloud, the last thing you want to do is enable your AI to run other places because then you’re
acknowledging that other places exist. That’s a strategy advantage for us. We’re the only ones
that can truly say you can bring the AI to where the data is. I think that’s going to give us a lot of
momentum. We don’t have to be the biggest compute provider, but we do have to make it
incredibly easy for companies to work across cloud environments. I think that’s a pretty good
bet.

It's this sort of blissful obliviousness that has ensured Big Bleu has been and will continue to be an also-ran in the rising technologies.

Can't wait to see the results for 1Q 2021... I heard it is a total disaster!

If you own some IBM stock, make sure you sell before the earnings call.

Keep selling that ice to the Eskimos. Let me know how much you sell at the end of each quarter.

So he's basically saying "Our cloud s—s, so in an effort to claw some money out of this cloud thing, we are shipping our AI to our competitors cloud. And by not reciprocating, our cloud competition is acknowledging that our cloud isn't worth the effort."

This type of incoherent babbling is parroted by all IBM execs as well as corporate strategy. Try to challenge it and you’ll get even more nonsensical verbal diarrhea. It isn’t landing with clients and it isn’t even landing with employees anymore. When are they going to wake up???

Seriously, who reads this stuff ? Pencil.. er Powerpoint pushers blowing farts out of their a-holes.
IBM is so behind the Googles and Microsofts, this guy really has to do several lines of coke before going live with this piece. I won't trouble you with itemizing the troublesome pieces.. there are so many! One pattern to discern the b—s— is to notice how many times "AI" is used in sentences.. you will know that hot air is laced with fecal matter.

IBM is the only company with an AI strategy that makes it OK to not buy IBM Cloud? So it's OK for IBM AI to throw IBM Cloud under the bus. And you wonder why IBM is dying. I think every company has a business strategy to not buy IBM Cloud.

This guy is a joker.
Did layoffs in disguise of back to office.
Made several leadership changes last few years to the point that now right hand does not know what left hand is doing.
