toys r us did almost identically what belk is doing in terms of bankruptcy, stores were run the same way, horrible management, no existent upper management, the top brass took huge bonus after filing bankruptcy. Now toys r us is gone...

At the risk of getting downvoted, I will say that at least Belk is trying to adapt to customer's shopping needs and be a little more innovative with online shopping, BOPIS, contactless payment options, the Belk app. TRU didn't do these things. Belk still needs to improve a great deal in every area if they ever want to be successful.
