During past round of layoffs, I was tense and feeling cramps in my stomach every day because I thought being laid off was the end of the world. I survived but after that, chaos ensued as it became unbearable to do this amount of work.
So now I don’t think it’s any better to stay in this company and survive yet another round of layoffs. The work is getting harder and harder. On the other hand, severance pay is not a bad option at all.

Don’t worry. Your job will eventually be offshored.
First, recognize that your work/job/title/ranking does not define you or your worth/value. Our culture (North America) places too much emphasis that a mans worth = product of his work. Many issues with this because it leaves you helpless and not in control... Things don't always go as planned regardless of how much care/time/effort you put in, there are always external factors.
Other cultures cope better with job loss/jos stress. Attitude is much different. Lots of good books on the subject: dealing with anxiety, cognitive behaviour therapy, happiness/self worth.
Either way, losing your job is not the end of the world. You can get through it, give yourself more credit... Lots worse things that you can go thru.
In simple terms, try not to care so much about your work and job. You are in control of your feelings and emotions. Harder said then done, but once you realize these concepts it becomes more clear and easier to deal with stress/anxiety.
Honestly grass is greener. I was laid off in December (new hire) and didnt have enough oil/specialized experience, so got hired with an engineering company within a month. There is work outside of imperial, and i don't have to deal with this trash.
