Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Fiserv has issues with Texas data center

I heard it was Irving and not sure if first data has data centers in Texas as I got out of that place just before the merger. Had to be so frustrating for leaders to pay for DR for years and when it is actually needed, is not ready or takes much to long to bring online.

Nobody is ready for a DR. At JPMC, testing was a joke. The applications run one transaction (no load or variety of transactions). And I think there was a couple of seconds of delay in (VSAM or DB2 or MQ) at cutover. When I participated, I chose to run a stress test of the application (10x the volume). But that was just me, curious about performance and taking advantage of virtually unlimited processing power.

How could you work at FD and not know where the data centers are? No, there wasn't a Texas FD data center in 2017.

My experience with my OFD friends is that they talk the talk, but don’t know what the f they are doing. No strategy, only goal is to make their sorry asses look good. I have had to step in a few times to stop them from making bad decisions.

Just more excuses by OFD hot shots who make big claims and promises but consistently fail to deliver. Its not that I think OFS was that great - but the idea that OFD management and staff is somehow a major upgrade is laughable. As this shoddy merger has demonstrated it seems that OFS and OFD deserve each other. My sympathy is for the hardworking front line OFS and OFD employees who suffer the consequences of this incompetence on a regular basis.

The Fiserv/First Data merger was completed in July 2019. Since then First Data staff have taken control of virtually all senior management positions and been directing the organization for over a year and a half. How much longer can First Data folks continue to blame ongoing problems on old Fiserv? Getting to sound like a big time copout to me....

Ever notice how First Data does all these great and wonderful things all of the time while every single Fiserv task, person or protocol is dumped on with nasty language, Why did First Data allow themselves to be purchased by the train wreck (so they say) that is Fiserv. Oh, wait,l Fiserv is dead now, First Data is everything.

OFS used these locations as part of their nonstop party travel. They likely never set foot in the data centers so that’s likely why they’re not functional. OFD has a ton to clean up from that crew

Sounds like they don’t have an actual DR strategy and site. Feels like a lot of breach of contract activity upcoming

Disaster recovery is vital when there is a system outage or an unqualified disaster. I know having survived the WTC on 9-11 and the backup tapes, offsite, proved vital. I know IT is a neglected or abused part of business and ETG did not help much, It would be one GOOD thing for First Data to improve upon before becoming Second Data or Third.
