Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Got bonus = safe?

It would make sense to me that people who got the bonus can relax a bit because they are safe. However, in talking to colleagues, some of them think that this is not the case at all and that the bonus does not mean that the person will not be on the layoff list.
I wonder what you think about that? Is there someone who got laid off after getting their bonus? It wouldn’t surprise me at all because there isn’t much logic in their business moves anymore.

Hi All can anyone help me here. Filed a whistle blower complaint less than 6 months ago, been subject to retaliation constantly via emails, phone calls and now bad performance review. HR has the cases open but no action.

Seems I am being set for firing. Lots of documentation and recorded calls.

Any advise ?

False - that is, about insubordination. Poor performance or alledged poor performance as a way to get you out is commonly done yet Unless you are doing criminal activity you can get still unemployment. Don’t let anyone scare you on here. You will get unemployment if you get fired or laid off. Also, long employment helps silence any fake story they try to make up because if UHG hates you why would they keep you for 30 years - as an example.

I literally got my bonus discussion and my layoff on the same call last year. I felt fortunate to get the bonus, I figured they didn't have to give me one. But it was a very surreal experience.

WOW as someone who was put on a CAP just prior to layoff. I’m stunned at this new way, which is insubordination. Honestly you have not a leg to stand on and I feel blessed to get out as I did. This must be the new CAP to getting people out by paying nothing. I tried my best to challenge this. It is an internal plan and HR is 100% on board. You don’t have a chance.

If they claim insubordination, you don't get unemployment.

Even if you don’t get laid off, it seems a lot of people are being let go due to Insubordination recently.
It’s an offense that is punishable up to and including termination. They don’t have to prove your productivity or put you on a performance plan, they can say you’re insubordinate and kick you to the curb.

So really, I would be more weary of that than layoffs.
