This Stankey and HR call is the worst and most blatantly anti-employee call I have ever been on in my 22+ years.

The call with HR was “like childbirth”.
@2bnp+19ukoifK Good observation. No likely, we'll stay on and do far less work than ever before. Out by 1pm and milk, milk, milk, the time clock. What a cuck!
I guess pay for performance is no longer applicable. Sounds like part of the give everyone a trophy crowd. It's rare to have newer employees performing at the same level as veteran employees, thus the reason for different pay levels. How about PTO, give newer employees the same as a 30 year employee?
Congratulations! Thanks to Stankey, we have discovered the limits of this forum – 80 replies before they roll over to a second page.
Perhaps that was his objective – to make us despise him even more, so that we will be more likely to leave!
So younger or newer employees no longer have to earn their stripes? This is the way it's always been, when did this process change?
"Employees that do the same job at the same quality should be treated equally and with the same benefits."
Telling that this simple sentiment is being down voted so heavily. Typical of AT&T workers. That's what Mr Stankey was trying to tell us
We saw an angry old bald man and a blonde bimbo degrading employees and telling them they are not engaged and being paid too much but these changes will fix all that. All Stinkey did was disgust people who hate him more than ever. One new topic on this board has people hoping he has an illness that removes him. He has earned our hatred!
He should make attempt to be less white.
He sure has the bleach blonde bobblehead under his finger hmmmmmm whats going on there?
Hearts cannot be changed but by God, my belief. And unfortunately many in the role of leadership whether in the private or public sector have evil self-setving hearts. Their decisions originate with "self" in mind be it greed or power. Listen to or read anything in media, there are countless examples of lying, greed and abuse of power by mere people who will one day return to ashes and dust as we all do. Death, the great equalizer. May we use this time in this forum to help one another employed at AT&T and provide sound advice in preparation for the coming financial tsunami that will affect us and our families. May we be better people having survived.
Your all worthless and weak,
Heard that before.
Unfortunately his arrogance precedes him. I am at a loss to explain how he ever rose above entry level manager with his personality traits. His management style leaves alot to be desired.
To me the most surprising thing about the bennie cut and the Stank's behavior on the call was how many people were surprised by them, especially the Stank's performance. You mean you really had no idea what he is and where the company is and has been headed? Really?
While I agree that the purchases since Big Ed left have been terribly thought through and saddled the company with needless debt, I beg to differ on the new policies. Employees that do the same job at the same quality should be treated equally and with the same benefits. It’s kind of a simple principle.
That call yesterday was disgusting indeed. The Stank looked pssed, sounded pssed, and totally showed his true colors. Clearly he despises the employees, particularly long-term employees, and just doesn't give a rip about anyone but himself. How dare employees want job security, decent salaries, and good health and medical benefits. The &^%$@# employees should be grateful to work here! THAT is his attitude.
AT&T didn't get this bad way overnight. It took years of mismanagement, ridiculous acquisitions, no leadership, and cowering to political correctness to get this way. Sh*t rolls downhill. Mismanagement and bad-to-no leadership at all levels of the organization got us here.
Tell anyone you work for AT&T and you'll get an expletive-filled tirade about what they think of the company. AT&T truly ruins everything it touches.
His management coach needs to be fired also. Neither have been to charm school.
Stankey is trying to eliminate legacy costs! The modified rule of 75 will be a thing of the past. Managers 50 years and younger with less than 15 years of service will not see any post retirement benefits!!
"I am starting to suspect he may be a sociopath, for real."
Actually, he's more likely a psychopath. Compare the definitions.
While he may cite other reasons for the things he does, his real trip seems to be exercising power and control over others. If you look at the things he has said or done, many are obviously untrue or don't make business sense.. But if you look at them as exercises in bending others to his with little if any concern for the consequences, they do.
The question about pushing people out the door seemed to hit a nerve with him. His anger was obvious.
Y'all make me so glad I was able to volunteer to be laid off last year. I wasn't so sure during the pandemic, but OMG did I make the right decision. 6 months severance, I keep my medical until 65 (5 more years...hope that don't take that away and hope the company exists that long), low interest rates ballooned my pension to > 5 years of my final [management] salary, and 25 weeks later still receiving unemployment insurance with a $300/wk federal kicker, and should be eligible for both state and federal extensions when it runs out for another 30 weeks or so. I was soooo worried at the time I decided to go, but now, I'm not looking back other than to feel the pain of my friends and co-workers who are having their future benefits stripped but won't be given the choices I had just a few months ago.
Good luck everyone!
And if nothing else, these new peer reviews will result in is infighting between those who gained and those who lost. One group that was told you have to much for your past experience and another group that is given more for no experience.
500,000 retirees before me who qualified, received their benefits. Suddenly this year, the decision is that allowing the remaining people who even qualify for them will somehow jeopardize the company? Let me tell you something even more chilling: the government compensates AT&T for pre-Medicare expenditures. I’m the opposite of a conspiracy theorist, but this doesn’t add up. I suspect that a few people are somehow going to get big bonuses for doing this. It makes me sick to think that might be true, but when you start really analyzing everything: the weird emails that say nothing; the gaslighting, and WTF is the CEO doing on a HR call anyway? Not to mention wasting time constantly bombarding us with emails about “winning as one” (the most inane rallying cry in the entire post-industrial age). I am starting to suspect he may be a sociopath, for real. He has so many of the traits. If that’s actually true, then it’s already over for AT&T. Best case scenario is a break up - please just give him HBO MAX and a pacifier and let the rest of us do our jobs in peace!
Not sure how it’s possible for Stanky and new Warner Media CEO Jason Kilar to sit in the same room at BoD meetings together? The amount of disgusting self important, egos between those two, is really more than a person can stomach! Kilar with his Harvvvvard degree and Amazon/Hulu background have really impressed Stanker, and convinced him the Silicon Valley way to do business is the way to be successful and Stanky in his desperation is boring hook line snd sinker. I guess Att didn’t do their homework on this guy. He’s been run out of every start up the last decade. His big mouth, rude, childish behavior are just a few of his charming attributes. Best of luck Att...I’m out!
How much content of this call was nothing less than chest pounding to further impress Angela? I'll show these chumps who's the boss!
Stankey is hawt
Stinkey may end up being a worse CEO than Robert Allen who destroyed AT&T the last time. When you lose loyalty and trust from the troops the game is over.
How many thought 2 weeks notice was surprise is the summer layoff? It surprised me. What's coming is going to knock your socks off.
OMG. 57 replies so far... is that a record?
Essentially he is striping out all of the legacy benefit costs so if to make the company more attractive to a take over or breakup!!
@lac+19ukoifK Severance packages would cost money, so T is penalizing people for not leaving instead of incentives to encourage leaving.
Get real everybody. This is T today, plain and simple. You're really surprised by this? Desperate company doing desperate things. Why is T desperate? We all know why- 10 years of CEO negligence and stupidity, along with 2 or 3 right hand men just as negligent and stupid, of which T current CEO is one of those. The stupidity is well known and future business school classes will be taught about it I expect. But in terms of the passing of time, it's ancient history now, never to be undone or fixed. The water has flowed under that bridge, and it stands on its own horrible history. Today and tomorrow are all we can impact, and here at T, it's gonna s— until it gets any better, because this desperate company will keep on doing desperate things. I personally think it would be better to have a mass layoff of whatever number they really want gone, chop it in 1 swoop and let people try to move on with their lives, and the survivors can try to rebuild some dignity and job morale here. This is a death by ten thousand cuts at this point. Bring out the machete and amputate in 1 merciful swoop what really needs to be gone, and then try to move forward to live up to the great promise this company has if it was not run by id–ts at the very top and scared butt kissers in the middle.
"What was your impression of the tone of the Feb 19th Connect Live Webcast and Q&A with John Stanky and Angela Santone?"
- Too Formal
- Just Right
- Too Informal
- No Opinion
Wow, I guess there is no selection for "Nasty".
Don't get me wrong, if we had a real leader and make a genuine call for all to man-up, sacrifice, so we can all succeed together, I think most employees will rally behind that message.
Unfortunately, what we have a cast of incompetent buffoons and underhanded tactics.
Not really. John is right in most of the points he made. What he is wrong about is you supervisor caring about your career. My supervisor has been whining about losing one week of vacation since it became public. He has been eligible for MR75 for years. Also that question about Veterans Day must have come from one of those MAGA people. What’s next? Italians advocating for Columbus Day? Get a life.
“ To blame for what? Making damn good money for not too much heavy lifting? I mean sure, the culture and leadership is horrible and all, but I stopped caring about that quite some time ago. I am staying precisely because they want me to leave so bad. Because, F 'em. I have other options for pre 65 healthcare. You want me gone so bad, you'll have to do it the old fashioned way.”
You missed the point. I was just saying that if you want to have your medical also, it might not be a bad time to go. I’m glad you’ve got one of those cushy easy jobs, if I had that I would stay until they made me go too. Where I sit we are in a sweatshop and they keep turning up the heat. I will be leaving as fast as I find another job. I’m done with this place.
Absolutely agreed with last poster. Despite whatever Stank said about changing the company so we can compete, what he really wants is for everyone to model after Santone, keep nodding heads, s— up, and abandon all critical thinking.
I would accept a severance package in a new york minute, but I don't think that will be happening anytime soon! My age and tenure equals 100, but I don't think T is giving out any packages in the west or southwest areas, unfortunately!
The funniest part of that call was the blond haired woman (Angela Santone) nodding her head up and down like a sheep on everything id–t Stankey said.
Doing a good job cutting the fat. Way too many underperformers sticking around for the wrong reasons.
I'm just waiting to be surplused. Might as well get the severence package.
