I wonder what your experiences with promotion were like? I saw someone write that despite excellent performance and number of years of work here, he never got a promotion. My experience is the same, after a while I stopped trying to get a promotion. I simply stopped trying. It was never clear to me what the logic was behind who gets promoted and who does not.

What was it about reality and truth that scared many teammates so much? Allergy to reality. Was it brainwashing and/or propaganda?
Join a virtual reality event and get virtually paid or a virtual award. Awesome sauce! Sounds like opdum
"This company is taking advantage of lower pay grade employees by forcing them to do higher grade job duties"
Yes, bc they can. If the us empire had employment agreements-contracts like EVERY other country, then, they couldn't force anyone to do anything. It's all intentional. We're all slaves an american corporate plantation. That's reality. We work for the 0.01%, and we sc-aps, crumbs, and pizza parties with plastic trophies and sing alongs
Promotions are extremely rare. That wasn't always the case. The company used to promote from within. This company is taking advantage of lower pay grade employees by forcing them to do higher grade job duties. This company, whoever they are, lost their values somewhere along the way, and no longer demonstrates the same level of integrity towards their employees.
The "sr leader" was a "sr leader" because they towed the corporate line. They would not be sitting where they're sitting if they felt otherwise. They're corporate clowns who are debt ridden, employee slaves who just happen to be enough of a corporate cheerleader to be a "sr leader". Buck dancing.
Brought in as a 30 and spent 5 years realizing that without a Sr Leader who cherished me, I was totally on my own. Option to get cherished included taking the 7x24 support roles where my phone was pinging all night and weekend, and I was expected to be bright and shiny M-F 8-5 participating in the workday while spending nights and weekends in escalations. Terrible lifestyle.
The one that are likely often 'promoted' are yes men and brown nosers who are easily propagandized. Those who "believe" in the corrupt and rigged system-the ones dancing at the corporate parties, the ones who really believe in the wall posters.
Heavy in debt, desperate, and easily manipulated, they will tap dance for anyone and anything to get another buck and feed their ego. Doormats all.
I was a grade 28 for over 15 years. Several others with my title were promoted to a "senior" and then the rest of us were laid off a few months later. I try not to think about it actually since in my opinion the promoted ones were the least qualified and it still seems very unfair.
What would be the end goal of being promoted? What is the reasoning, logic, evidence-based argument as to the thought process of wishing to be promoted? Does the teammate dislike their current job? Their bosslady/man, etc...? because when you choose to work at a place like that, it's like being promoted at
a death camp-(metaphor). What's the end goal?
I agree with what others have said. For 28 and under you should look on the job board for a salary grade above you and apply outside of your department. Especially if you have high MAP scores you’ll probably be successful. From 28 to 29 you can do the same however it’s harder and will take longer best to network for that jump. For salary grades 30 and above my experience from friends who have gotten those is they are Tapped for those positions. Meaning leadership is already working with them and gives them the opportunity and it could be anywhere in the corporation. Most would actually be in the leadership program, but some are not. It’s a lot of work, time, and dedication to get to a 30 and above.
Work hard, be faithful and loyal, come in earlier, stay late, never question anything, smile alot, and always obey your commanders. Some day maybe you'll be promoted and get a paper certificate and plastic plaque for your efforts. Thank you
Promotions are far and few between. If you are under grade 28, then promotion can occur with consistent 5s and networking. The jump from 28 to 29 can take 4 years or longer, again with consistent high performance and the right manager pushing for you. From 29 to 30, even longer. From 30 to 31 or higher, pretty much forget it. The fastest way to higher grades is to bounce around, each time taking a higher position. If this means leaving the company, so be it. Lastly, look at your job family to see the grades you can achieve. That info can be found on hub.
I am not sure if there is a particular rhyme or reason but your manager / director has to make the case and you need a VP who values their input. Its easier on a smaller team in my opinion. Also your mgr obviously cant just be one level above you. If it hasn't happened you will have to apply out to another department. That is how most will move up. I have no idea when some people are promoted out of the blue but its likely they were going to leave and then they didn't want to lose them.
Respectfully, why would you want a 'promotion' at that place?
