Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Ironically, I'm happy to be laid off

The layoff surprised me. It’s not that I think all the best about myself, but I still don’t think I deserved it because there were a lot of worse performers who stayed behind. It’s my own fault that I believed I was safe. Now that things have settled down - I’m happy that I was laid off.

Who knows how much longer I would try in vain to get a promotion that I could never get and who knows how much longer I would have to endure perfidious bullying. And yes, I found a new job faster than I could have imagined.

I was laid off in 2017 and it was the best move for me. I hated working at Nike and they did not treat me well. The politics are unbearable. Tech went full on 'Lord of the flies ' a long time ago. I was highly paid it was unable to contribute anything productive to the organization. This was despite many years of trying. In the end, I felt ignored and overlooked. At one time, I was so disgusted with coming to work and having nothing to do can I stayed home for a full 2 weeks. I didn't call anybody and tell them I wasn't coming in. I didn't take any pay time off. I didn't take any sick time. I just didn't come in for 2 weeks. My only regret is that I didn't do more of it. What you're looking for Nike does not exist probably won't exist again. In my opinion call, should be avoided at all costs.

Once you realize your Nike job isn't your life, things will start to get better. It was one thing when you could depend on spending your entire career there, but those days are long gone. Soon, there will be nobody left who remembers the good times, when "work" felt like a party and you never had to worry about getting stabbed in the back. It's amazing how much nicer people are when they're not all fighting over dwindling perks and benefits.

OP, congratulation on the new job. Happy that you feel good and, most likely, feeling healthier than ever before.
