Anybody else considering quitting if they have to go back to the office full-time? I have been so much more productive this past year then ever before because I'm more rested (no commute) and I can spend more time with family (again, no commute.) The idea of going back to the way things were is now completely foreign to me.

Absolutely pathetic. The fact that you are "well rested" demonstrates that you don't take your job seriously (and probably never have), and as a result, the IBM overlords will find a way to replace you with someone who will. Instead of spending time with your family during the hours gained by not commuting, you should be working and adding value to IBM and it's shareholders.

No, they've been laying off boomers with out dated skills. The ones with skills have left on their own.
"they'll need to keep knowledgeable people and skilled labor. That will be a huge risk leaving them with greenies with no knowledge. "
Bruh.. are you new to ibm?
They've been laying off knowledgeable people in past decade

Nope. Newco spinoff and then the guillotine is going to swing, 20K+ cut. They won't bother with that. If they keep IBM small they'll need to keep knowledgeable people and skilled labor. That will be a huge risk leaving them with greenies with no knowledge.
@1hgl "Arvinde [sic] won’t make that happen, not with proof productivity has been good"
Seriously? You don't think they're looking at how much many of us are enjoying WFH and seeing mandatory return to office as a great way to shake loose a lot more voluntary departures?
Colocation was a Ginni thing to do layoffs. No one actually thought it’d be more productive. Arvinde won’t make that happen, not with proof productivity has been good.
No way everyone is going back to the office full time
Can confirm
I completely agree. I cannot imagine waisting hours on commuting to work. I know certain apartments in IBM are very strict about coming to work - it was not productive then and it will not be productive in the future - ibm will lose more good employees
HR trolls in action AGAIN
It's mostly the IBM paper pushers wanting to go back into the office.
They are freaking out that their useless job will be eliminated if wfh.
Nobody who gets paged out all night-morning wants back in.
(well unless they're a bit of a masochist)
Top reason for me to quit is compensation but ya i don't get why ibm is adamant on bringing back people to office when productivity is way up.
I think it's about keeping people in the area of job location bec they're getting tax credit or something from state governments.
Same here!
If you have a job opportunity elsewhere, then there are many reasons to leave IBM. Just because WFH is the new normal, there is no guarantee that it is going to be the norm for any company moving forward. I've worked in sales for many years and work from home most of the time - sometimes it s—s, other times its great. Find the job you want to do in a company you want to work for, then your work/life balance will take care of itself.
