Thread regarding IBM layoffs

how long health insurance last after quitting

I’m feeling overworked and have been thinking of quitting for quite a some time. How long one can continue with the IBM provided health insurance after parting voluntarily?

You quit , you don't get insurance, unless you fall into years for qualifying for retirement, and pay for insurance under IBM plan which is costly. However if someone has an underlying health problem ,you will not get coverage for that on your ownThe beauty with the IBM health plan they don't review your health you just get enrolled.

Wow, I thought I was the only one over worked...:) . Thought except Corp functions other BUs have it slow. No training, no transition and 3 mgr changes in matter of last 5 months. Been thinking the same and am on edge as well. Try to find a side gig or another job if possible at a lower pay and then quit.

If you are in the US, you are eligible to purchase continued coverage under the federal COBRA regulations whether your departure is voluntary or involuntary. The eligibility period ranges from 18 to 36 months depending on what state you live in, do a Google search for what applies for your location. A word of caution is that COBRA coverage will be an extension of the same benefits you had while employed but MUCH more expensive because you are also responsible for paying the share of the premium costs previously covered by the employer.

If you quit you won’t get health insurance. I was RA last June, 2020. They gave me health insurance at a regular rate for one year.
