Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Tracking

Are they really tracking badge swipes, computer location (IP) and keystrokes? This seems super far fetched.

These 3 items (and more) are collected and reviewed 'dashboard' summary style on a regular basis.
Outliers are identified with other basic tools.

This ain't no multivariate statistics - it's easy.
Even your manager can understand it.

A lot of paranoia here. I remember what an expert said: if your company has a specific problem with you (you have filed a lawsuit, there’s an internal or law enforcement investigation against you, etc.), expect absolutely every move you do to be recorded in every possible way. At scale (that is for everybody all the time for no specific reason) it’s impossible; it would be a huge burden. The company would have to pay a large number of people to collect and interpret the information, and there’s a huge number of variables. It’s much simpler to target the rank and file who happen to be better paid - that is have more years of service and decide this way who to throw out.

I don’t get the “Friday lower attendance” statements. Friday’s have always historically had lower campus attendance before the pandemic. Some teams literally had work from home Fridays.

The number of bodies on campus each day is known. It’s always lower in Friday’s too......but no, you are not being tracked.....

Yes companies do this. lol at how much sales increased last year in the companies that produce the software to do so. Some software takes screenshot every so many seconds or minutes, no kidding. Look this up on YouTube. One guy was saying he implemented it at his company to pretty from lawsuits.

Does it matter if they are doing this? We know they are continuing to eliminate North American jobs as quickly as they can stand up offshore replacements. Don’t be distracted from the real story by noise such as this. 8% PIP will continue. Lack of career growth will continue. That is the real story.

Yes, you have been tracked, you’re screwed.

The company even put it in writing that you are being tracked. Read the fine print dummy.

It seems far-fetched because it is. There is no need to check that kind of stuff to gauge employee performance. The results or lack of results tell the performance story in the assessment, not keystrokes or badge strokes. The lack of understanding of how things actually work and subsequent speculation couched as “fact” is mind-boggling.

Badges and IP, most definitely, we have software and eventual tableau for that. Keystrokes and what software we actively use, maybe. We have tons of agents and processes installed in our laptops. Great idea for our managers, so they'll know who actually works and those who slacks.

80% of fortune 500 were tracking employees (laptops, iPhone, keyboards, emails, texts, GPS) and this article was pre covid and remote working. Refer to below article.

Don't forget the drones positioned above all employee homes. And, if you fill up with Exxon or Mobil gasoline, there are tracking chemicals inserted into your gas tank. Mother ship knows all. Be careful, be very careful.

And the reason is to determine who.will be PIPED and who will not be PIPED. And from there who will be NSI and who will be NI.

IT IS NOT FAR FETCHED. Has been happening for quite some time now and accelerated post covid once everyone started working remotely. This brought to you by a company that disguised layoffs by using the PIP process last year that used to be the bottom 3% then expanded it to the bottom 8% so thy could avoid paying severance. And they are getting ready to do the same again this year. And then they changed the PAPD process that you could only be moved no more than 20% to protect you and now there are no limits as to how much you can be moved down in the ranking group. Have you missed the stories on this forum of employees being moved to other work groups that had been highly ranked and then found themselves in the NSI bucket or the poor employee who had 25 years under going chemo that was let go because she could not do her job. And on and on and on. And you western whether or not that the company would spy on you, would not use every single available resource they had available to review your work performance. These are all company assets, lap tops, keyboards, mice, cell phones. Card jets, etc. The company is perfectly within their legal rights to utilize all means at their disposal to determine how employees are utilizing their assets. The company puts GPS trackers on their company vehicles to see how the vehicles are being driven, they inspect your vehicles when you enter their refineries, they have cameras all over the refineries, this is absolutely no different. Grow up people. You are being watched and monitored and tracked.

The data is collected but nobody looks at it unless they need a reason
