Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Thanks you for the invaluable experience, Oracle!

Hired five months ago, laid off yesterday. Apparently, they didn't need somebody for that position after all. I wish I knew that before I turned another offer down to take this job, but I guess that would have been too much to ask for. I guess I should feel lucky to leave a company that treats people like this before I got too comfortable.

I do know one soul who is happy!
A recent hire from AWS, now making big bucks with a big title.

It won't help. Just another guy taking advantage of Oracle's cloud desperation.

Good for you. I have no issue with people coming here for more money or a title. I just don’t see them promoting or developing within. Maybe that’s common. Congrats to you. Maybe I will look at AWS. Haha

So along those lines. I wonder how many people jump before the axe man cometh or stay for severance...my thoughts is last thing O ever wants to do is pay that. I don’t know one soul that is happy.

Sigh... it happened again and again... guys it was too late to posted here....
Oracle's management only hire replacement for preserving a position from his team due to attrition. And you will be the topK to be RIFed for next upcoming wave. No double about that.

Please join another ship. This ship is sinking.

Anyone who says you can’t blame
an employer is either in mgmt there or just a POS a kisser. Get a life troll. A company that gives raises, even cost of living raises once every decade is pure c-ap and Oracle knows it.

Sh– happens, blaming it on employer is amateurish. Move on. People bashing Oracle will crib and whine wherever they go.

I love the advice. It made my day. Current employee at oracle working as little as possible cause my manager is a steaming pile of POS who couldn’t manage Walmart greeters. Hahahahah. F oracle.

Ax Man should have congratulated you. Getting canned from ORCL is a blessing. You only went through 5 months of misery. It could have been years of hell. Your next job will likely be much better (unless you are rehired by Oracle after layoff, it happens).

I am sorry that you got laid off. It is all just the tip of the iceberg. Much more to come in April.

Definitely, never take a job at Oracle. There are a million reasons for that, the OP has found just one of them.

Those in Oracle who are still decent people and have not been corrupted should get their resumes together and get out.

Great words of warning to others who might otherwise make the same mistake you did.

That sux, but anyone who has read this site has been warned repeatedly not to accept any job at Oracle. Thanks for coming clean here and best of luck in your new job search.

For others who are thinking about working at oracle I have some advice - a mental trick that always helps to keep Oracle in context: Whenever you hear, think, or read the name “Oracle”, just substitute a mental image of a steaming POS in your mind’s eye. Decisions, evaluations, etc... will all be crystal clear and in the correct context from that point forward.
