Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

No more recommendations

When's the last time you told somebody who was looking for a job to apply at Exxon because it's a great place to work with great pay and benefits? I used to do that all the time years ago. I even put in a good word for a few folks. These days all I do is warn people away. Nothing about this company is good anymore and I make sure to let everybody know that.

It’s sad to hear this and I had the same feelings too. I would be doing a disservice to the young entrants to the job market. However, my recommendation is still to use EM as a training ground to learn the technical/technology stuff in the first few years and then take-off to other Companies. It’s not a good long term place to work, unless the Management changes the way they work.

I did a lot of recruiting prior to hiring being shutdown. I don’t sleep well at night thinking of all the poor souls I s—ered into Exxon (and there was a lot!).
