OR

Still not at 60%. Must be too many maintainers. Let’s cut some more.

(Seen it happen) this is nothing new. They have been scraping good stuff for over 20 years to make the shop look less cluttered. They do not, nor have ever cared about wasting money. I have personally scrapped probably over $5 million in parts.

very wastefull company . i seen thousands of $$$$$$ of new items thrown in the dumpsters when the bigshots are planning a visit. They could sell it to their employees by blind bid and save money because you would not have to pay trash companys to haul it away.

Your right. Don’t sign out because you never know. If you older and out of work it’s a good job if you ever had 2 go back.

Carloads were around 195000 a week pre pandemic. They are around 165000 now. The volume will increase. Fuel prices are going up. They have already increased 20-30% in a year. Trucking companies operate on extremely thin margins (some with 95+ OR). When fuel prices go up trucking prices go up exponentially. It pushes volume to the rails. Fuel is a much lower percentage of operating cost for railroads, therefore railroads traditionally offer a more stable shipping cost. When volume increases NS officials have already said via earnings call that manpower won’t increase with volume for as long as possible. Everyone will be spread more thin and the OR will be in the mid 50s. Not maintainable for long but it will 100% happen. When the day comes we will have turned the corner with PSR and the job cuts will cease and NS will slowly bring people back.

Yeah they bring in all these hot shot bozos with all these money saving plans yet in the end all they do is cut jobs instead of coming up with other ways to save. So continue to throw cases of water and tools in the dumpsters and pay contractors for facility maintenance. Don’t forget the home improvements on upper management’s homes that the company pays for. Wish they’d get investigated by Chris Hanson. Heard he’s looking for work.

Just cut more people. That’s all they know how to do.

They're never gonna get to 60%. If they do, they'll be taken over. I personally hope they crash and burn.
