Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Is the sales incentive ever paid out?

Thinking about a job that is eligible for the sales incentive program (130% of base if targets are met). Do people get this reliably?

So does 130% of base mean what I think it means... you are paid $$$ = Salary + (Salary * 1.3) ?

Not being from sales I don't know these things... but sure sounds like I got into the low paying side of the industry... LOL!

For the most part, yes. If you really overachieve due to other groups closing business you get paid on, they might try to not pay you.

yes, during my tenure at IBM I often exceeded 130%. They did try to balance the likelihood of doing it year over year, and they changed the rules, which made it difficult to do it consistently, but I managed to do several times.

Often not. Upto 130% is ok, but big over performances will usually get reduced. I lost out $100k one year and so left. Basically they changed my target retrospectively, a few months after the year finished.
