Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Why don't they care more about talented people?

They don’t seem to see value at all in people who have great talent? Worst of all, SF doesn’t see a problem in talented people with a great skillset going to competing companies.
I don’t believe this company has a bright future with such a business philosophy. Recently, my longtime colleague got a job at a competing company and says he was not at all surprised to work there again with people who were deeply undervalued here.

What’s the point in trying to get promoted in claims? If your a CA they can move you to ILR/Express and then hold you hostage from applying or posting for other jobs! This place doesn’t care about years of service. Just when you think you are working towards a promotion or self development they pull the rug from underneath and send you back to an entry level position even if your EPR is Good.

IMO, they moved to the resume system so they can hire once for a position. So think of this as all external and internal are applying to the same job, together. Luckily, quality work at SF doesnt seem to be a factor in hiring so its going to be like external applications....which truthfully it was easier getting a job at SF than it is getting internal promotions....so im not sure if this is a pro or a con for current employees.

@2gbf+1aFCnbhR You should learn more about the new process and fill us in.

I figured they wanted our resumes uploaded so that way they can try and employ us elsewhere and avoid paying a years worth of unemployment, like they did the SF bank, employees that were d-mb enough to get immediately reemployed.

I haven’t even bothered with mine simply because a year of unemployment would actually benefit me into being a full time student again to finish my degree. It’s literally the perfect thing I needed and welcoming it with open arms. Maybe buy some time also to really find a better company.

After working here if SF was a publicly traded company, I’m sure a lot of people including myself would bet against us here in the next few years.

Unfortunately if you stay informed about business, it’s something Bernie sanders covers a lot. When sales mean more than your employees well being the company is way too big and doomed for failure.

I’d say have 20 minute hold times in April still is signs we are growing faster and handling more claims than ever, while pretty understaffed.

I really don’t think tippy understands seasonal influx in claims and chances are as a business owner, you’re going to have time periods in this business where business is slow. It’s pretty common sense to anyone who can make a 5th grade decision fluent professionalism in what you handle, and speed is an after thought.

It’s really instilling into my head unless I see changes the growth everyone is talking about is destined to be temporary, or COO’s really need to get their sh-t together before someone makes a viral post which counters all of the millions they spent on advertising.

So glad to be out of that mess. SF will never be what it once was.

Its working beautifully. They have like 100 PA3 CA's from medical departments in AILR right now, all are seasoned and experience. All are looking for jobs elsewhere, with most waiting for the second things open up so they can get out. Think of all the money this mutual company that isnt about profits will save turning experienced $40k/yr+ employees into short term base pay turn n burn employees?

It will be blanket bonuses for management i bet!

Just wanted to point everyone to something...maybe old news so I apologize. With our new HR system you have to upload a resume to apply for a job internally. If you look there is no difference between internally and externally posted jobs listed. The system scans your resume for key competencies/words and if it does not see those it will not forward it to the hiring manager. I wonder how many people at SF are even aware of this. Basically what is happening is many of the jobs are not even being posted internally. I have a very strange feeling that going forward, when the future operating model is fully unveiled, we will all be competing for our jobs with folks outside of SF! SF could care less about you or your career! They have to have turnover to keep expense and salary low! Remember our execs think our issues with all the burn out is because of peoples attitudes and messaging/propaganda delivery. If they just purge SF of all the "old" ways of thinking then everything will be perfect. Remember SF had the highest 1st year quit rate recorded by all companies in the United States in 2019! Most of these people coming in are coming from retail or food service or other call centers and take one look around and say f-----k this!

I took an interviewing skill class hosted by SF where the hosts quite plainly stated technical skills and work ability isnt a factor in hiring, as they assume it all can be taught, they look for likability and interview skills when hiring and promoting internally. This is why the rockstars walk out the door and SF condenses their mediocre and "here for the paycheck" crowd that has fewer and fewer rockstars to over produce to carry the mediocre crowd.

I have never in my life seen a company with higher front line turnover, where it was almost exclusively the best leaving.

As someone whos recently been trained for three separate departments work, never once has training talked or discussed, let alone attempted to build skill, in the arts of customer service, deescalating upset customers, or bridging a problem with a customer.

SO the future of SF's employees is a mediocre staff that has zero training or skill in dealing with people. This is the face of State Farm.

If you really have talent other companies would be trying to obtain your services. How many offers are coming in? You are stuck at SF for a reason....

Talent isn’t important to them. The only thing they care about is wanting people who are submissive and will s.u.c.k up to them and never question anything.

If the company recognized employee's talents, then they would have to pay them more which conflicts with the company goal of being 'lean' and reducing expenses. It's not right, but it appears that is what they are doing.

Lets be truthful. Most dont have exceptional talent. They came from small towns, went to mediocre schools and entered the org at age 23 learning over the years how to work less and less each year. Now there are skills in maintaining lawns but that isnt really useful in fin svcs.

I think the problem in claims was the creation of and heavy reliance on the SCP’s. They think anyone in claims can do any claims job. They don’t really value the people that know the job because they think that anyone can do it.

Not surprising, I’ve been here for a few years, ki---d results never offered a promotion or raise. I’m sure my manager somehow is getting one for not giving me one.

I feel almost stupid showing up to 1x1’s almost like I’m being played by a giant.

I could finish first on my team for a year straight in metrics there’s always something to improve on... not improving my situation compared to others.

If anything if what the SF is telling me, their bonus lost me money this year. Almost as if they were expecting the government this year to give me my bonus through the stimulus lmao. Tells me enough about this company...

Never have, never will, and only care about those who "fit in" with their narrative. Meanwhile, they hide with inclusiveness hypocrisy. The work ethic means nothing.
