Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

They don’t know how to get the best out of people?

I start with myself - very often I am so demoralized that I have no will to give the best of myself.
I know a lot of people who were average employees here. Now they do incredibly good things in other companies.
What does that mean? That means that this company can no longer recognize talented people and use their talents which they end up taking to competing companies.

Valedictorians always look like average students at an ivy league school.
If tons of highly talented people are in one place the effect is to make it look like many are underutilized. Honeywell has always been a training ground for great things.
Doesnt mean honeywell is great and doesnt mean the people still there are less talented.
Just means it is a dog eat dog culture. Learn and move on.

@OP. that makes two of us. I realized that pretty fast. As my response, I did everything to continuously educate and gain the experience in other areas (only received lip service was provided to the value I brought but gained valuable experience) to prepare myself and eventually, was able to make a strong case for a great role outside.

They can’t keep up with the turnovers as people keep leaving, that’s why they made it into a company “behavior”, how bad is that where they want the moths to attract more moths to this dim light

Threatened....is the word.
Unbelievable, management was allowed to play the games they did. If you weren't on the same side as them..they would even go as far as sabotaging your work. Like I said unbelievable!!!

It doesn't help that managers rate very high performers as 5's or put them in the elbow because they feel threatened by them. So many great people ended up seeking outside opportunities because they never got the recognition, performance reviews, and annual increases that they truly deserved. Meanwhile managers that just forward emails and play golf all day while doing no actual work continue to get HW paychecks.

Look up the lyrics to that old Bob Seger song "I Feel Like A Number" that could have been written if he worked for Aero!

Talent means nothing. It is not valued. Revenue, margin and cash is all that matters. Employees are a means to an end. Period.
