Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Attrition

Looking at my LinkedIn timeline, people who I thought would be hi-p-t are leaving the company. Even hi-p-t females are either leaving or signing up for MBA’s (plan B).

What you say has been true for at least 15 years. Recruiters keep an eye on Chevron anointed ones, hiring away the good ones at 4-8 years experience before Chevron puts them in management. The not-so-good ones are left to be the next “leaders” of Chevron.

Anyone in IT in SR is a hopeless cause. Why else would they be at Chevron and passing up infinitely cooler jobs and higher salaries across the street?

You spoke too soon @pjb+1aN2p7hj

JG just announced that he and others are moving to Houston.

It makes no sense for someone in IT to move from SR to Houston unless you're above a certain age and know that no Silicon Valley-based company would touch you.

For those in the Geosciences, it's a tough choice as it seams like the entire world is make believing that we're post-oil. I guess there's always Bakersfield or Midland if you really hate Houston that much.

and now...... the further migration of positions to Houston from San Ramon.

You can call it "Attrition" but Bay Area residents are reluctant to move to H-town (let's see if they are willing to change companies or will just complain and move to Texas)

Inconsequential and infinitesimal.

Just wait. Recruiters see blood in the water at Chevron.
