Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

Why is this the case?

The worse the company treats the employees, the more layoffs we have, the higher the stock gets. I understand that layoffs and reductions in benefits reduce costs - something investors love - but employees are those who are providing the services that make this place the money. One would think that treating us better would be good for the company, but I guess not.

Simple, brings down operating cost ratio and IOI improves.

The board of directors answers to stockholders and none of those people care about you or your performance. They care about how much you cost and/or how well you genuflect to the demigods that "lead" IT.

Advocate to eliminate insurance companies. They raise the cost of healthcare and reap all the profits. We don’t need them. Working at UHG was the most toxic, back stabbing and unprofessional place I’ve ever been. If you can break the law and do it with a smile on your face, you get promoted. Bonus points for throwing your coworkers under the bus.
