Thread regarding National Oilwell Varco Inc. layoffs

A constant threat to layoffs

Perhaps I might be able to endure the constant threat of layoffs if I was younger, if I didn't have a family, or if it was impossible to find a safer job somewhere else. I am somewhat used to being able to lose my job at any moment but why continue to put up with that? It is no longer worth working in such an unstable environment. It's not safe anywhere, but NOV is the champion of unstable jobs.

Working at a company that is constantly laying off is not for a person who has a family. I work in a different industry now and am so busy with work every day that the thought of getting laid off for lack of work never enters my mind. Just move on and find a different company or industry is my advice.

Quit your bellyaching, this isn't the only company where you will feel threaten of a lay off. I've been here at Tuboscope for 24 years, seen plenty of lay offs, yeah, for sure you wonder if it's your time or not but hey, that's at every job you are going to endure in your lifetime. No job is permanent.

Going to lay off until no one is left. The people they have are leaving due to the toxic work environment. You come in everyday and management makes sure you are in fear of losing your job.

Great point. There’s nothing positive about working here at all. Compensation, progression, development, nothing. Been like this for years now
