Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Just make trucks,SUV’s, and cars better.

What a waste of time, money, and engineering talent. No benefit when vehicle is sitting with 22,000 of its friends in a parking lot. Has the new Ford lost its mind? Certainly lost their way.

According to a recently-published patent filed by American auto giant Ford, the latest frontier for this colonization is the inside of your car.

The company's patent filing describes a system that would equip cars with billboard-reading sensors, allowing cars to scan roadside signs for relevant information and then display them on screens inside smart cars. For example, driving past a McDonald's billboard would cause image and text recognition algorithms to automatically interpret the ad's contents, like an address or phone number, and then transmit that information to your car's dashboard display.

Talents don’t want to waste their time working for Ford. Under incompetent management

Most large companies have patent incentive programs that pay employees for each patent filed, with an additional reward if the patent is granted. Doesn't matter if the company has any plans to ever use the IP described in the patent.

Response to the original poster:
(1) It is not a waste of engineering talent at Ford -- Because Ford doesn't have the talent to do it in-house. Ford is filled with excess talent to make PowerPoint slides, Excel timing plans, manage suppliers (Ford's choice of words/mindset - not mine), and to read/write lots of emails, but that is about it anymore. It will just be another purchasing organization objective to source the right vendor!

(2) Ford will probably use this as a source of revenue from advertising income. You can't really blame Ford for that because they are incapable of building high quality vehicles to satisfy the customer and keep making money in the future. What do you think - that they will be able to charge customers for the amount of recalls per vehicle in order to be profitable???
