Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

I don't understand

Honestly, I don't. Serious posts please.

  1. How does AT&T buy, then sell TW, DirecTV, Tmobile, and a host of other companies and sell at a loss while the executives keep their jobs and the board remains?
  2. How does selling these mismanaged assets for a loss equate to losing 50% of the dividend?
  3. What good is voting my shares when a majority votes Stankey and the board out and yet they can stay claiming that the vote is non-binding?

Can anyone explain this phenom?

How is maintaining 70% stake selling at a loss? We’re keeping 70% stake in TV business with TPG and 70% stake with the new media company.
Where is the loss if we’re not having to operationalize these products?

Come on, you guys. So many great jobs created at AT&T. You guys got paid. Just complaining about things that don't even affect you. So ungrateful.

That’s exactly how all boards function

Get your buddies on the board to rubber stamp all your stupid ideas

Nothing will change until big lawsuits happen

AT&T needs an independent BOD - not a bunch of yes-men/women. They only know how to do the bidding of the CEO. In the case of the disastrous Time Warner and DTV purchases, they went along with the misguided Randall and his right-hand man, Stankey. They should be replaced and Randall's/Stankey's salary should be clawed back. They all need to learn that bad decisions have ramifications.

makes you wonder doesn't it - almost like they had a totally different agenda.

The board is full of tools and jelly-spined yes-men? Oh, and yes-women, too. I want to make sure I'm being inclusive.

I agree with you, I just don't understand why the id--ts have continued to be allowed to run the once might Bell Companies into the ground. But what it looks like is when you get pronounce as president or ceo then you are given the company to play with for whatever reason you want, no responsibilities, no repercussions, it's yours to play with as long as you want. There is hope that maybe one day the chickens will come home to roost when the official dividend cut is finally announced and the plummet occurs, then the attention will be focused where it sould be.

I find it interesting that ATT is doing all it can aggressively to increase subscribership on their Fiber, including reaching out to retirees and quoting a great concession price with no strings attached. Could it be ATT is trying to groom its fiber division to have enough subscribers to gain the interest of perspective buyers.

Don’t ask for a serious comment here. Just read 99% of the posts and comments....come from formerly fired or current ‘low level’ employees angry at management, the current federal government, educated people, scientist, executives, vegans, people who don’t smoke or chew, librarians, tech
workers, anyone on the east or west coast,
English teachers, P.E. teachers, people who don’t drive dirty trucks, people who use soy, or oat in their coffee, people who buy coffee at Starbucks...but mostly they’re angry at people like you who ask a reasonable question because they can’t address that. They’re here only to smear and post ridiculous, stupid comments.

This buying and selling at lost should be investigated and someone should be fired or go to jail for mismanaging billions of dollars.

Serious comments. In other words, comments that criticize executives. Feels a lot better to get a bunch of people riled up against management.

Rich people take care of each other by allowing those in their club to fail upward.

They live by a completely separate set of rules than the rest of us.
