Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Bankruptcy

Who are the pessimistic people who say that Macy's will sooner or later file for bankruptcy? Why do you think this will happen? I refuse to believe that something like this will happen, although everything indicates that if the company continues to operate as it has so far ... there is no hope. I used to work at Sears and I know some people there who refused until the last day that something like this would happen, and the current situation here reminds me a lot of the atmosphere at Sears once.

Macy*s owns a lot of property and has helped them before. Leasing or selling space. Now with flex schedule's being the new norm how much does that play into it? Office space won't be at an all time high that's for sure.

Outside observer here. The similarities are overwhelming between Macy’s and Sears. Macy’s feels like it is where Sears was in 2010ish. Can’t close enough stores but doesn’t want to sacrifice markets. Vendors shying away leading to worse and worse merchandise that customers eventually turn away from due to quality issues. A egotistical CEO that doesn’t seem to worry about the business at its core. It’s a sad day for many in the USA as we have already lost one cultural icon in Sears and many signs pointing to that fate with Macy’s.

Won’t be until the next stock market collapse...have no idea when it will come but I don’t think they will survive it.

So maybe 2024??
