Thread regarding IBM layoffs

The top cloud companies service both business and consumers.
IBM thinks it can compete with the big players with just a B2B model.
How has that been working out for them? Not too good

@ykl is exactly right. Execs never have to truly master anything because it will change soon anyway. What a perfect way to keep useless people.

There's one person reposting this bs strategy thing on every thread, me thinks they're hr or some middle manager who doesn't understand that it has already failed

Ybs This is exactly why IBM bought Redhat. They bought a new strategy, and a new image. They are now in the process of executing that. Expect big changes to the legacy infrastructure over the course of 2021. Yes the legacy makes money, but it doesn’t innovate, and IBM needs innovation to move into the future

I think IBM is seen as "uncool" when compared to other companies - not just cloud companies. It has this "old generation" image. It somehow need to shake off this image and make itself cool and relevant again. Hire some out-of-the-box forward thinkers, inject some enthusiasm into the brand. Look at how "cool" Amazon, Pure, Veeam, Salesforce etc project themselves. Driven by a younger generation. I even think Dell is on the cusp of being un-cool, despite its relative success. Oracle is struggling from similar image issues.

Changing things consistently is how the Execs stay in power while they enrich themselves at the expense of the little people… again they have absolutely no intention to deliver any results because it is too hard to actually do the work.

For the little people… it is time to raise up and fight the tyranny…
