Vaccine Status Tool

Is anyone concerned with the company requiring a HIPAA waiver to be consented when we enter our vaccination status into the companies tool? I don't have any issues with getting vaccinated, I am more so concerned with my privacy when it comes to my health information. i

They called every single person back in my office who used the vaccine reporting tool, after the market leader had told us the week before that they wouldn’t use the vaccine reporting tool to call people back to work LMAO

Executives are supposedly coming back in June or July, CFO already said he is vaccinated and back in office in dept wide letter. How long do you suppose until we are forced back to the office? I don’t know anyone that wants to go back.

It’s not their business if you get vaccinated or not. There is still a lot of unknowns regarding the virus and the many different strains of the virus. Better off WFH, we sit on top of each other at the office.

Make sure you “participate” in United Way campaigns and you’ll be fine lol.

Didn’t use the time off they gave and not using the tool, just more monitoring and tracking

You will only be allowed to return to the office if you are vaccinated. That is why they are asking. They are not requiring vaccination but we are a work from office company so you can read between the lines for that.

Not filling out. Not telling them if or when I got vaccinated.

the vaccine status tool is overreaching. They already gave us 8 hours of paid time to use to get the vaccine. So if they want to know who got the vaccine (or at least an estimate), then they should pull a report from HR. The vaccine tool is asking for too much, and they know it, that's why they are covering their a-s-s-e-s by having us waive our HIPAA rights (whether the law pertains to employer/emplyee relationship or not). i used the 8 hours of paid time off and did not use the vaccine status tool. HR sent me an email reminding me to use the vaccine status tool. They're already cross-checking! they are over-reaching!

Read the whole article to get the full flavor of the message, below that is just an excerpt:

https://www.hipaajournal.com/hipaa-compliance-and-covid-19-coronavirus/

"It is worth noting that HIPAA only applies to HIPAA-covered entities, business associates of HIPAA-covered entities, and subcontractors of business associates. There are no restrictions on disclosures of information about the 2019 Novel Coronavirus and COVID-19 by other entities; however, while HIPAA may not apply, other federal and state laws may do.

Healthcare communications between employers and employees are not governed by the HIPAA Privacy Rule, which would not apply if an employee tells an employer they have contracted COVID-19 or are self-isolating because they are displaying symptoms of COVID-19. HIPAA would only apply if an employer is informed about an employee testing positive for the virus by the employer’s health plan."

If you have any concerns and issues, I'm sure they will issues waivers to deal with that, at least on a temporary basis.
