Best thing that ever happened to me was getting laid off from ATT. Got a big severance and a job that paid 30% more with better benefits and MUCH less stress from the continued rumors of losing my job. LEAVE THE PLACE!!!!

I got laid off as part of a % reduction of headcount because revenue suck for 2 periods in a row. No other reason as my reviews were good. So stay with ATT until you die because the smart people don't. You just can't improve yourself by leaving that dumpster dive of a company. Every year that I work in my new job is 1.5x the old ATT lazy loser job. You just aren't able to get a better job.
Well, this @2trz+1aVs785a fellow sure does seem to spend an awful lot of effort trying to blame victims of layoffs for their fate. I suspect he's some poor, insecure guy who needs to do this in order to reassure himself that he's somehow superior to others, and that AT&T is actually a solid, well-run company that cares for its employees -- despite the mountain of evidence showing otherwise.
He's like those congressmen who now are trying to tell everyone that the mob of traitors who tried to overthrow the government on Jan 6 were really only there sightseeing, and that none of them did any violence, destruction, or sedition, even though we all saw the truth about who they were and what they were trying to do.
I really do wonder whether he's trying to convince others of his fantasy or himself.

Right. Because at a place like T it's so easy to just move from one department to another, and decide out of the blue that you no longer want to be part of DIRECTV but instead want to be in Mobility.
I'm sure that's exactly how this wingnut manages his career at T. Monday he in Ops and Tuesday he decides he needs to be in Engineering, and presto! he's there.

What about the employees that aren’t in a failing business unit and would like to have the option of leaving early, but T won’t offer anything! There are people that have been employed for several decades that would leave in a NY minute if offered a severance package. Wake up ATT and clean house the right way! Offer everyone and anyone a severance package, then you might not have to layoff those that would like to remain.

It stinks when anyone loses a job, but dead wood is known as dead wood for a reason. Those that hang around in departments on the chopping block likely spent quite a bit of time enjoying “money for nothing and the chicks for free”, then stand wide eyed and aghast when handed a pink slip. Fast forward a handful of months and here you are popping back into a public layoff forum for a company you no longer work for trying to convince yourself and others how great your life is now. You’re like the creepy dude that gets dumped by his girlfriend, and brags to all his buddies how crazy she was and how much better your life is now that you’re free. Then you go home and stalk her social media accounts in your tighty whities while angrily flogging the dolphin to your memories of better times.
You ain’t fooling me, Jack. If your life truly is better you wouldn’t be here playing your Pied Piper flute trying to get the rest of the rats to follow you. It’s not like these are your Facebook friends. You don’t know anyone here, and nobody here knows you. I was one of those whose position was no longer needed and was released in 2020. I wasn't surprised -- I was one of the legacy DTV people and remained working for the DTV business, and everyone has known since at least 2018 that T was letting the DTV business die from neglect. So when my spot was eliminated it wasn't a shock at all.
The severance was quite generous (six months pay, plus unused vacation, plus 5/6 of my annual bonus in March of this year). I took a month off, then started a search, and by Feb of 21 I found a new job.
The difference is amazing. I no longer have to deal with that pit in my guts about having to work for an ignoramus like Stink. I no longer have that constant stress of wondering about how the next re-org/headcount optimization/workforce realignment/business strategy shift will impact me. I don't have to be bombarded with those insulting town hall meeting where senior executives will ur----e on my shoes but tell me it's sweet summer rain. I don't deal with Directors or VPs who don't value my contribution or appreciate my efforts. I no longer need deal with benefits being cut or with having to defend my position to people who have suffered the awful at&t service and products.
I am totally liberated.
And as far as this ridiculous T shill who keeps coming here to insult those who were laid off, keep on yapping. The more you spout your nonsense the more clear it is that you either suffer from Stockholm Syndrome or that you're just an imbecile. The people let go over the years were not low performers, they were not drags on the business, nor were they incompetent. That's the c-suite. The people let go were just unlucky enough to have been in positions within T that served their failing services, like DTV or Uverse or Retail Sales, and Warner Media. And those areas of the business failed because of the senior executives. Nobody in T's top layer knows anything about running entertainment businesses -- their phone guys. There is a big difference between the two. But T's arrogance meant an incompetent was placed in charge and we now see the result: 50K positions lost in 5 years. An unmanageable debt. Selling off parts of the 'empire' at a huge loss. Benefits decimated. Morale plunging. Stock dropping like a paralyzed falcon. Investors angry. And competitors elated.
So keep on with your blithering nonsense, fool. All you do is expose yourself as someone who is a very special kind of stoopid.
As for me, I am in a much better place both in terms of job and overall life since leaving T. Others are too. While you continue to wallow in your misery and bitterness and just swallow the lies that flow from Stink's re---m. Until it's your turn on the chopping block.
truth I left on my own for more money - att doesn't pay industry standard. since I left never heard the word layoff. people think they are so special working at att and are elitist. they are only elitist in their own minds. I don't spend a dollar on att today and all my services work and never go down - go figure.

No more daily anxiety about when I will get axed, and screaming about the ineptitude of the “leaders” od this sinking ship called AT&T. Save yourselves life ia short and there are better companies hiring out there.
