Private companies in the US have very broad latitude to govern employee behavior, especially regarding safety. The only scenario in which An employer could not fire a non-complaint employee is one which is explicitly illegal, like gender discrimination. The vaccine, proven safe and effective through hundred of millions of applications (!) would be almost impossible to refute. I expect Chevron to bump up vaccination activity doing it in house as soon as everyone is back to work. Start polishing your resume if you don’t want the vaccine.

it is legal for businesses to ask if people have been vaccinated and to require those that dont provide proof to wear a mask on the premises. HIPAA only applies to info sharing between healthcare / health ins providers

If somebody does not understand the science and importance of getting vaccinated then that person is not qualified to work for this company.

I am a Supervisor and have not seen any communications regarding employee's status. Don't play their game. Stand against the machine and like others said, raise he-l to leadership. I look at mask the other way. We will know who the sheep are.

It's a way to entice you to get the vaccine. Most will end up getting the vaccine because they will realize it's not worth fighting it over wearing a mask.

To all those saying to just use a fake vaccine card: If you lie and get caught, you get fired for unethical behavior, sued for knowingly infecting somebody with a virus (especially if they die as a result), and arrested for fraud for falsifying a federal document. So go ahead, do it just to avoid wearing a mask.

I doubt it, but if Chevron does have or gets around to implementing a database with Covid-19 vaccination records for its employees, you can be assured the database will be chock full of false data. For example, if Chevron requests proof from me, I’m prepared to show them my false Covid-19 vaccination card with a real Janssen vaccine lot number, date of shot, and clinic name (out of state). That’s right, it’s a copy of my previous neighbor’s vaccination card who sent me a picture. Chevron will check the box in their database and care no more about it. Back to work in my cubicle without a mask.
