Thread regarding BNSF Railway layoffs

Who are the people who enjoy BNSF?

All these people who say "if you don't like it here, you can leave" are basically saying that we should suffer in silence. But I would like to know what their reasons are for staying here. Please teach me how to enjoy being here too. /s. The fact that people complain does not mean that they are not looking for a job, but unfortunately jobs do not fall from the sky. If the job market situation was a little better, I’m almost certain most people would have left here already.

The railroad now is like that “donut” spare tire that comes with a car. Good for a little bit to get you to where you need to go, then not good anymore after that.

Here’s what’s happened: there’s a bunch of bitter pi---d off people here who have been jerked around to point they’ve given up, but aren’t willing to jump ship until they’re forced to. They know they can make decent money and hold out until whatever happens happens. Then you have an extremely angry group of guys who have lost their jobs and are warning of what is coming; some may have found something better, some may haven’t. It really depends on each person. 15 years as a railroad electrician isn’t going to get you anywhere in the real world. You’re not a journeyman outside the railroad. But 15 years as a mechanic may get you a better gig very quickly. A 15 year carman isn’t going to get much unless you can rely on welding etc. If you’re ok transportation side you best have something else to fall back on cause you’re not gonna get close to making the same wage. All in all it’s a disaster and getting worse
