Past week has been Just shuffling business units and numbers around. For AT&T the remaining employee base has been beaten up. All the failures of Randall Stephenson, John Stankey, and a flacid Board Room have been "We" and as a result the employees have shouldered the punishment.
I would estimate 80-90% of the employees don't care and have no faith or trust in management. As an employee of 30 years I am seeing most value added employees simply mailing it in and doing well below the bare bones minimum. I have to ask the question of where is the confidence going to come from that you can compete with T-Mobile, Verizon, Comcast, Charter etc? The foundation for the Wireless and Fiber business is it tatters and the services are too expensive relative to the marketplace.

You must be bargained for. In my group, we show up every day ready to get our jobs done. Sounds like we’re carrying your dead weight. Time to retire and let someone else step in for you.
T executives just don't f%^& get it, it is an arms race. Oh ya, "we finished building fiber to fulfill commitment to the DTV deal and took a pause". Really, take a pause? This is pure regressive thinking like building fiber is a punishment and you are glad it is done and walk away. Where is the sales and dominate mentality? Fiber is the lifeline to the business, without growing it, the business dies. "Took a pause", please just shut up and go away.
Stankey acts a tough guy, he is weak in the mind and other ways. Unbelievable, can's lead the "media" empire and falling way short to lead communications. Just go away!
Seeing as how both Verizon and T-Mobile have robust 5G service and have already started to market in-home 5G WiFi internet service while T is still trying to get bandwidth and can't manage to bring fiber to anyone, I'd say the competition is already over.
Of course, some of the more desperate and brain-damaged here still seem to think Stink and T are ahead of the game. Good gracious! If this is the type of employee at T, no wonder things are circling the toilet.
No at&T cannot compete and win against the likes of TMOB, VZ, and Spectrum, just to name a few. T's costs are way higher and they have abused customers once loyal to at&t. If T is not out of business within five years, I will be amazed. T leadership has decided to use contractors for many of its critical operations. Contractors could care less about the quality of their work. Not sure why anyone thought pervasive contracting was good for at&t.
You sound like one of those old guys that just complains all the time and tries to bring down everyone around you. Can't accept AT&T mobility numbers are doing well.

Listening to Stankey day after day is like a speech from a Prison Warden if you are an innocent man. I am on calls now where people dont even show up who once did on a routine basis. People dont respond to emails. These were all solid performers at one point but have also seen other solid performers shown the door, abandoned in El Segundo after transferring, or simy vanish yet still be employed. One guy has been a ghost for 12 months and is still on the payroll. To that guy I salute you.
I guess those with ATT Stock and Incentives still have some skin in the game(Directors and Above). I see no reason to put much effort into the business anymore. How many times can you watch the CEOs charge into death traps with their sycophant cheerleading supporting cast applauding and greelighting their shareholder destructive maneuvers. Took me a while but its just a check and benefits at this point and Covid enabled me to get a great business up and running. 20-25 hours per week soaking ATT and 60 hours on the new business. Some of took the Covid Work From Home Ball and really ran with it.
And, for all your blustering, T is still wiping the floor with all of the above. Cry more.
