Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

How do you feel?

I am still at ExxonMobil. I used to wake up excited for the future. Now I feel a sense of dread and find it hard to get out of bed in the morning. There is little to look forward to.

I think a bit of both. The annual assessment period certainly isn't helping. I'm a supervisor so I'm not looking forward to everyone on my team blaming me for the c-appy ranking system our company makes us use. I'm pretty candid with my people and try to explain the way the system works. In the end there are always good people who get driven out. Unfortunately it is what the company wants for some reason. It is hard to accept that someone has to lose as the system requires someone to be put into NSI every year. I'm also upset about the message regarding 90% passing the PIP. Puts supervisors in an impossible situation unless they change the rules this year. In the past having 90% of people who were NSI survive the PIP was not allowed.

I think EM will be a good place to work again once things settle down with the oil markets and the downsizing. Whoever survives the next 3 years will probably be in good shape.

I'm actively looking for another job, as I have no confidence in senior leadership, and I'm tired of all the hypocritical double talk from the organization.

Networking and actively applying elsewhere. With 8% and being ranked good. I just want out.

Are you feeling that way because it is assessment period or just the general OL of the company? You are not alone

I’m actively networking externally in the search for a new job, but also thankful I’m able to continue to do so while still employed unlike many others.
