Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

Where is Leadership?

What shocks me the most is how CLT doesn’t believe there’s a major issue out there in the workforce. They just sit there and think there are only 10 people posting on this site.. just a few ship disturbers. Incredible how out of touch with own workforce and a sign of future decisions I’m sure.

Our peers are loving this right now. People I know at other companies say they won’t dare come near Cenovus when jobs open up due to our track record. Attracting talent in the future will be near impossible.

I’m embarrassed to say I work at Cenovus.

The one common bond in Cenovus these days when I talk to other teams and business groups is how overworked and angry people are at CLT.. it’s the common topic from both Cenovus and Husky.

Everyone I talk to have had work double and lost people. Burn out is everywhere right now, and so is the hate for this weak and non-present ‘leadership’

Glad I’m not a shareholder as these guys sure know how to destroy capital (physical and human).

This post is so spot on I hope HR does read it. Leadership has been completely absent; management by the bridge with a focus on integrating everything BUT the people and culture, and the only thing building a sense of community in employees is how alone we all feel. Whether they realize it or not, the only culture that's going to be created when leaders are apathetic to their people is a culture of apathy to the organization, which is a real shame since people on both sides seem engaged and to really care about doing the right thing. Now everyone just feels defeated and abandoned. It's not like this is the first takeover in history - come on. The complete destruction of morale was wholly avoidable and isn't being masked by a communications director who filters through all feedback and questions in a town hall to only post comments commending the leadership team. Give me a break. People deserve better. And humility? Humility is not being so arrogant that you won't admit to your mistakes, or take feedback even when it isn't positive, or to share feedback you receive that isn't positive or the novel concept of self reflecting to see where you've f-ed up and own it. Accountability is knowing that you have the livelihoods of people and their families at your hands, and that wellness isn't just about the dollars OR writing about mental wellness. Accountability as leaders is stepping up to create an environment in your teams to see them through the stress. These are basic human principles of giving a *** about people, and yes you can run a profitable business while doing this, and yes you can also manage an integration while you do this, and no you shouldn't need to just write about it...just do it. You have excellent people from both legacy companies here. Make space and an environment for them to be excellent and thrive again.

I love how Alex is in the news today trying to back down from expectations of the market. He’s basically indicating that Q1 is going to be a mess but just trust us anyways. It will be interesting when we see Q1 results and the executive packages given out to these useless individuals at the top.

Oh yes and now the Husky management system is being used for the entire company. Another indication that Jon has railroaded Alex and this is a reverse take over in slow motion. Alex got duped and he’s about to lose his job just like Brian F did after his Conoco disaster. Was nice knowing you Alex, see you later.
