Interesting these rounds are now overlapping as we just had a bunch of people departing on 31-Mar, e.g. tail of closed down now Melbourne Research.
It is a sad harbinger of the future that IBM is closing down its Research capabilities, but there is a lot of redundancy and overlap among the various locations, and they (like the rest of IBM) are territorial and do not cooperate. China closed after 25 years, now Australia after 10. There are rumors that one of the Silicon Valley locations will be shuttered soon too.
