Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Stepping stone?

There is nothing left of this company, a few stores that I don't even know how they still remain open. I’m interested in what’s up with people, did you use the experience from here to find better positions in other companies? I went back to college because I realized I never wanted to be a part of this cruel retail world again.

Congratulations on returning to school. I went from Loss prevention to accepting a job with the ATF. During the hiring call, they said that my Sears loss prevention experience and the high profile investigations we participated in were the primary factors in offering me employment over so many qualified candidates.

Good for you. Rather than whining and complaining like so many do here you took control of your future. Good luck in your future endeavors.

Seriously, retail is cruel. They don't want to pay you 1 cent more than they have to. Always promising raises to keep you working 2 people's jobs; then when you do make a few cents over minimum wage, they find a way to get rid of you so they can pay someone else less.

Congratulations on going back to school. Excellent decision. Education is something an employer can never take away from, a job they can. Good luck!
