Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Is there a reason to go the extra mile anymore?

Is the extra effort rewarded by anything but more work? That's how it's been feeling for the last several years. What happened to proper bonuses, promotions, pay raises, etc? I'm also curious if this is a company-wide issue or am I just that unlucky. Might be time to move laterally if the latter is the case.

Oracle is a big sinking boat and there is nothing you can do about it.
Sinkage will take time but all lobs lobs will take the hit at some point (if not already done) resulting in rif, freeze of increases/promotions etc.
This is sad but this is the plain reality, so acknowledge it and take action, because nobody else will do it for you: think and plan on how to get the best possible severance (yes, you will surely face this moment of truth), update your skills to maximize your employability, engage to connect with the non-oracle world (yes, there is a life beyond big red).
Stop moaning and take action. Now. Do it. Now.

Extra effort in my case was also rewarded by jealousy from my coworkers because I made them look bad in comparison. Right now my extra effort goes towards learning skills that I'll need on my next job. Invest in yourself, not the company that won't go an extra mile for you.

You sound pretty much like every other loser from oracle who cries on this message board. Maybe you should take a long look in the mirror. Just sayin’

Sorry, but it’s safe to say that it IS you. If you had been paying attention you would have been long gone from Oracle by now. That’s on you.

A job well done is its own reward. seriously, Oracle may not ultimately care if you go the extra mile, but your reputation will. The industry is small and you will continue to run into people from older jobs who will like remember you and your reputation.

The only reason to move laterally is to pick up a skill or experience for your resume so you can get TF out of Oracle.

Yes, it's not you, it's Oracle. Get your resume together and find a better place to work. You can do it. Lots of Oracle people have.

It’s not you, it’s Oracle. They treat their loyal good workers like c––p. Worker bees are miserable. Mgmt is s––m of the earth. No cost of living raises. No promotions. No nothing. Don’t even waste your time doing more and don’t even tell anyone you work here. It’s truly an embarrassment. I am surprised someone hasn’t really put it to them publicly but did see that court case.
