Anyone have that one coworker that looks at the company with rose tinted glasses? I have one of those. There is nothing but positives coming out of his mouth when we’re discussing XOM. I get that he likes working for the company and I really don’t want to burst his bubble but I swear sometimes it seems like he keeps his head in the sand and doesn’t see what’s going on around him.

The fascination with which schools people attend at Exxon is selfism period. Oh look at me I’m better than you because my school is better. Come on, plenty of people pay for degrees. Get over yourselves.
People learn what they see. You don’t get promoted at Exxon by knowledge or sills, you get promoted by who’s a–s your kissing or who your sleeping with. It is reality.
He is obviously a naive kiss a–s hoping if he brown noses enough they will let him keep his job. His reality check will come.
Spot on. I have one soup kitchen supervisor like that at RTD. The worst kind. He will tout his useless US degree around in spite of his zero skills but no one can ever found out his real educational background.
Nothing wrong with studying anywhere, just be proud and be productive. The reason it is annoying is that this guy doesnt know anything, produces nothing, spends all his time brown nosing and on top of it finds every opportunity to self claim himself to be a leader.
I don’t see this as a widespread problem. You seem to be fixating on one person as you keep posting about this for months now. I think you’ve built a mountain out of a molehill in your mind.
If you don’t care about schools, don’t lie about them. If you did a certificate from Ivy League Extension school, don’t call yourself a Ivy League graduate. It’s as simple as that.
And if you went to some community college, be proud of it instead of hiding it.
I had a coworker who claimed he had 100% of his savings plan money in XOM stock; that was after he had been at the company about 25 years. I have always hoped he wasn’t telling me the truth.
What is the fascination with what school someone went to? I really don’t give a damn where you went to school. I care about how you perform.
He’s on full blown steroids and works out in the gym pretty frequently. He’s not hard to spot because of his height and his Napoleon attitude. Yes, it’s you, UIS guy....incompetent and out of touch.
UIS and UBD are full of toxic positivity and cheerleading. You gotta “believe” (or at least pretend to).
My manager is like this for the general public.
But he has a sun who is about to finish ATM, he confess to me that he told his soon to not even be close to the Exxon recruiter both
So the true is...it’s all political but they know what is going on
Fake degrees galore. Online certification from a top school is not the same as a real degree from there and yet this misrepresentation continues shamelessly.
Must be one of those incompetent UIS guys. We all know some very incompetent ones. These wannabes will never get employed anywhere else but have made a good (for nothing) career at EM.
Fire all those who do not mention their undergrad degree institutes in their LinkedIn profile but are running around touting their fake online certificates from US schools.
Next time he removes the rose colored glasses, check out his pupils. If they are dilated, he may be under hypnosis or on happy meds.
If we were all the same, life would be boring. I'm happy for those that aren't allowing themselves to participate in a Pity Party.
He probably thinks it will save him from the PIP. He is an ignorant fool.
Or could be a hipo who has only benefited from the way things are and hence doesn’t want the system that has benefited him so much to change.
