Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

It’s time to move on

I have no love lost for the bank. I was an embittered employee that was laid off last year. I held on to that bitterness for months but eventually I realized that it did me no good. For the sake of those who are still employed I wish nothing but the best for you regardless whether you choose to remain or eventually move on. It’s not healthy to hold on to so much negativity. I choose to let it go and I hope others do too when you’re ready.

vuw+1auM105d, so you belive their over–the–top woke diversity initiatives alienate half their employees? How so? What about the small % of people color that have been alienated? I guess that's okay? Let's be clear I think this "Diversity" cr-p is all for the BNY show; It's all in theory, but will never be put into actual practice. However, it's interesting how people are okay with discrimination until it effects them or their ilk. Then it's "reverse discrimination ". Up until that most people are okay with discrimination. This doesn't have to be a fight for the last slice of pie. It's enough to go around, equally.

There are LOTS of things I like about the company. That's what make it so hard to see them continuously mess up their downsizing or offshoring, whatever they're doing.
Things I like:

  • Their high level strategy except for maybe their use of offshore drones.
  • Their training if you can find time to utilize it.
  • My co–workers who were always willing to help each other even when they don't have time to complete their tasks.
  • Their investment in IT infrastructure that had been neglected for decades.
  • Their IT standardization which will help their path toward devops and agile development.

Things I don't like

  • Their sn–––r strategy for layoffs. People fear the unknown way more than they fear change. They could easily explain how many people will be affected and give a timeframe and explain the benefits affected people will receive. Nobody thinks their owed a job, but we are owed an honest, stable environment. And the bank could EASILY commit to keeping you for a year or so at a time.
  • Their over–the–top woke diversity initiatives that alienate half their employees.
  • Their mismanagement that makes it SO SLOW to move toward their high level goals
  • Their whole yearly compensation process. What kind of company announces raises to be effective 5 months later?
  • Their move toward consolidating geographic sites which will severely increase risks and limit the talent pool and diversity.
