@1saf+1azJYwN9 - Sounds like you have not been out of school long. I had some great professors as well who knew the books well. My real education started when I went to work for a 60 plus year old Geophysicist in 1985. For two years before he retired I learned more about Geophysics than any professor ever taught me, but the most important thing I learned was a work ethic. We were in the office at 5:30am and worked until the night because we had to produce for a startup. We worked many weekends as well, and my wife would bring the kids by the office so I could have lunch with them on the weekends. It was absolute he-l at times, but as a team we pulled together and made some good discoveries. Looking back some of the fondest memories I have is working for this older gentleman, and I remember him telling us all how proud he was of our success from working hard. To this day I would not trade that experience for anything, so if I were you I would reach out to the older employees and up your knowledge base before taking on jobs you probably lack experience to complete right. Believe me when the older ones are gone so is your chance to get to the knowledge. I still have notes from back then that I reference here and there.

That is a great attitude my little one. That is exactly what I expect you to do as you grow up. Keep it up. When you finally grow up you will realize that nothing really changes with the generations. So respect your elders for being wise. Hopefully we can lend a hand as you grow up. If we can’t then we should get out of the way.

What do we want - CHANGE!. When do we want it - NOW!. Where do we want it - AT HOME! How do we want it - FOR FREE AND GIVEN TO US WITH OUR PARTICIPATION TROPHY! Why do we deserve what we want - I'll get back with you on that one....

I took THREE senior level management classes AND finance AND economics a few years ago in COLLEGE! I learned more about the business than than most 50 year old's know today. Who cares if they have experience on how things are done, my generation will make up NEW rules. We will figure it out as we go. Sure we might make a few mistakes, but we are trained to know there are no right answers, just good efforts. And I had some great professors, that knew business even though most had never worked in business. Anyway, they encouraged me, and said good things about me. Why shouldn't I get to be a VP??

No. Such a du-b comment below. The reason China will control the world in our lifetime is because America is drowning in debt that China owns a vast majority of. This is from wreckless spending by elected officials that prior generations voted for and that we had no control or say on. It is just so obvious by these posts how much better educated the millennial population is than that of our parents.

The millennial attitude in the US is the reason China will control the world within their lifetimes. Good luck with work/life balance then!

Couldn’t have said it any better than the comment immediately below! Let us do our thing and stop trying to micromanage my generation via working in an office. The email was very clear that you can go in everyday to the office if you want to. Leave the people who prefer BWP two days a week the heck alone. Seriously get a life.

And to the old poster two comments below do you think the company wants to keep you? I bet I can do the same job you can do with my 10 years experience for half the price they pay you The over 55s need to retire they are overpaid, have a dinosaur mentality when it comes to change and frankly my generation is just tired of your BS and micromanaging, which we all know is the reason you want us back in the office and are so pi---d we get the BWP.

Love this post, its funny to see the reactions...

In all seriousness though, why would the company ask for the monitors back? They dont need them. What is the goal here? I would think they want the employees to be dialed in at home. Greenway maybe different, but Allison has empty offices with monitors everywhere, not being used. I personally love the revised schedule and will get monitors if needed, but seems a little ticky-tack of the company to ask for them back.

The young poster below is so naive. If you think they care about keeping you dream on. We will be back in the office full- time is less than a year unless Covid comes back hard. I don’t know many 55 year olds that are looking to retire either.

So why are they still doing the 9/80 other than to shut you guys up. The original intent of 9/80 was to lessen traffic. Now with being at home two days a week they don’t need 9/80.

Like it or not, my generation is here to stay and we are the future of oil and gas. The poster two comments ago is right. Senior management is finally listening to my generation as all the over 55's are about to retire. This has nothing to do with cost. Its not going to save OXY any money by having its office employees work from home two days a week. What it is going to do is save the employees money though by not spending 2 hours each day in a commute. It will also help morale and honestly is just a better business practice since we can all be just as effective from home which we have proven over the past year. We live in the third biggest city in the US, traffic alone is reason enough to do this. I applaud VH for her doing this. I will work harder than ever now as my way to show that I am grateful.

You must be kidding me. You listen to that BS they tell you. They don’t care about keeping talent. It is all about cost. And this woke cr-p that is another thing that is just a fad. Why don’t you take your generation out for a walk and never come back.

Stop spreading rumors. BWP isn't temporary. Covid has forever changed how companies like OXY do business. If they were to go back on this later, it would be terrible for turnover and they don't want that. They even said they are doing this in the email from Senior Management to retain talent since my generation favors a work life balance more than the boomers on here who think doing things the same way they were done in the past is the only way to do things. Vicki is woke now and she is listening to my generation not just the old folks on here. If you don't like it, retire.

How about if the company buys you a monitor, sets it up, puts fresh milk in your bottle, and powders your bum. Will you stop crying then?

Enjoy it while it lasts. Soon you will get the chance to be intense in the office 5 days a week. Also, be happy they will not take 9/80 away from you. They have in the past.

Y’all need to STFU - if pre-covid OXY had announced “Hey Y’all, effective immediately, we will work from home on Mondays and Fridays AND we still retain 9/80’s”....everyone would have been elated.

While it’s not the most ideal, it’s ideal nonetheless.

I’ll work my tail off Tues-Thurs - and concentrate on cleanup, not interrupted by coworkers the other days.

I’ll take it.

All you people who don’t like the situation can just quit and make room for those who want to work. The company doesn’t owe you anything. If you go away you will not be missed.

I don't read that the offices are closed Monday and Friday. I actually read that the WFH schedule is dependent on your job and your supervisor. The supervisor has the right to have their team in the office to work on projects, etc. I agree with earlier post that this is temporary to get to the final stages of Covid and then it is back to the office. It was nice while it lasted because it protected us from Covid some. People with kids will get free daycare from the govt so find that daycare now.

Really, you can't buy your own equipment for home spoiled baby. I have worked from home using my computer and monitor to remote into my workstation at Greenway this whole time. Everyone has a computer these days, so go pick up some monitors on your dime or go into the office Monday and Friday. You start pulling this whiny complaining and you will be in the office every single day. Don't spoil it for the rest of us loser.

A little off topic but this bit about protection until August 2022 . Was Oxy planning on laying Oxy legacy people off instead of Anadarko people if they didn’t get enough Oxy VSP people to leave. If true then that really sucks. What do you think?

You don't have to work from home. It is an option that you can take advantage of if you want. If you prefer to spend a couple hundred bucks on gas commuting instead of on a monitor, you're welcome to keep going into the office.

The other thing is if they lay you off when you get back to the office they don’t need the hassle of recovering equipment from your house. You really don’t know what will happen in August.

How did the company take money from you? Low stock price and lack of dividends are two that come to mind. Maybe legacy Anadarko people have other issues where they think the company took from them.
