I was wondering how many who were laid off are now in a better position than they were while employed at NOV? I was laid off and felt such bitterness in the beginning. Then I let all the negativity wash away and began to pick myself up and start over again. I’m now at a company that values their employees. I now think of getting RIF’d as a blessing in disguise because I’m much happier in my career than I’ve ever been.

I got reduced and 10 months later earned a job with a small company that values experience and received 29% more compensation than NOV and a boss that has passion for success of the company unlike NOV CAPS director from India who dismisses good suggestions from field districts to meet CAPS president’s business objectives to improve financials because his department would actually have to perform some strategic work. It’s really ashame as other companies are already far more effective at implementing and executing these same initiatives and are enjoying financial success.
So, i have to wonder how long ago has everyone who replied here has been gone from NOV?
Then i wonder, why on earth are you coming here to read these post?
The only conclusion i came to is that y'all are fu cked up and stupid.
I left and then went back on a sea of promises that soon revealed thems9to be a pack of lies.
I left again and will never return.
Unless you are a "golden child", they will pretty much chew you up and sp-t you out.
I'm glad I went back as it finally closed the door left ajar.
There is no happiness in corporate America. You need to find happiness outside of work such as in your family or in hobbies.
And everybody lived happily ever after until the next drama!
LOL ....y'all be fu cked up
All of Houston service controls group is about to be working at best buy..... geek squad.....
Much better off… twice the pay and a real Management team, not bean counters and relationship salespeople posing as strategists
massively better in terms of , better management, role and package - but most importantly valued and feeling much happier
Although it does not feel good at the time, looking back, getting out of that toxic company is the best thing you could do. I feel sorry for the younger guys who are seeing NOV as a career but cant see the extremely poor leadership that is taking the company down the wrong path.
A lot of companies are struggling because of the market conditions; however, the morale at NOV is rock bottom. Poor leadership, no direction, directors like Segway Riders causes hopeless feeling.
Yep, almost 20yrs w/ NOV. Entire career. Finally realized how bad it was once I was transferred to Houston. Saw behind the curtain the people in charge and how they managed and made decisions.
Took a little pay cut to get out and have never been happier, best decision ever.

I was very similar to you at first and hurt. Carried a lot of bitterness and frustration in that I had poured so much of life into the company and I was just thrown away. Honestly, that's my fault. Every company will do that to a person. I don't make near as much money as I did, but my state of mind and inner peace is so much better.
NOV does tend to breed contempt because people who care try and make things better but are treated as trouble makers and outcasts. You get frustrated because you know it is right but management doesn't want what is right, they want quiet. If you are expecting different results (like I did) then shame on you. You cannot expect a company to follow your idea of right/wrong, even if you are right.
