Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Your personal sacrifices while working here?

It all depends on the priority. For some, Chevron is a dream come true because they are mostly motivated only by the pay.
I would very often give up portion of the pay, if only I could have at least a little work/ life balance. I missed a lot of important moments because of the urgent things that "had to be done yesterday." That’s the biggest personal sacrifice I made while working at Chevron.

Xom here. 50 -60 hour weeks are standard and expected. What work-life balance?

Bring a COSTCO brick of wipes when you arrive back at work. You're going to need them.

So, work requirements and deadlines are unique to Chevron and don't exist elsewhere. Gotcha.

People who put in the extra hours are recognized IF the results exceed what is expected. But if you can’t get your work done in 40 hours, you may want to explore ways to be more efficient. It’s pretty easy to perform well at Chevron without working around the clock.

Dude, I don't think anyone can top that. It would suck if your relationship was different, or if they knew, but didn't care that he was dying. If you're a father now, don't let stupid work activities that will probably undergo 10 more revisions get in the way of your relationships with family. This place will take all if you let it.

I miss my fathers last moments in the hospital because I had to work late because Chevron made me work late to meet a deadline. So I would like to say.......thank Chevron, he was a miserable ba----d, and I really didn't want to be there. Thanks for making dreams come true.
