I made a stupid mistake when I did not accept the offer because I was not ready to move back then. After that, I was no longer able to go beyond the interview phase, because a lot of people apply for the same position and it is very difficult to stand out, especially if you are 45+. In the end it looks like I'll have to move after all.

I got laid off.
Every body was talking about what was coming and I ignored all the 'background noise' until it was too late.
I had to scramble to get re-employed. It was not easy but I did better than Commscope in the end.
If I had known what I know now, I would have left sooner.
