Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Anyone understands how bonuses and annual increases work

Anyone knows how bonuses and annual increases work?

Is it true that Directors and Sr managers try to reduce payouts (annual increase) for ICs so that they get higher increases?

This is really pathetic and explain why so many first line managers (especially VeloCloud) and so dirt cheap.

This also explains why these dirt cheap managers hire only fresh grads and try whatever it takes to get rid of seniors.

VMWare (and especially) VeloCloud where I belong as an IC enables these thugs to steal our bonuses and our salaries?

There is no standardized or committee to evaluate your work. It is in the hand of dirty cheap low-individuals (Sr. managers and directors) who are hungry for a few bucks here and there.

Fully agreed. Been with VMware for 9 years and counting. Have my own business and uses the job for health insurance for my kids.

I am not Indian and I know my promotions are not possible because of my ethnicity. Several of my managers were Indians. I only was promoted when I had a white non Indian manager.

I could not care less about the money. But I fully support and movement to expose the thugs and racists at vmware. Especially SEBU and its indian cult

No, excess funds do not go to the line manager.

You are in direct competition with your teammates though. Managers are directed to compensate their best talent. If you are not viewed as the best on your team, you will get less in the way of raises, bonuses and grants.

This is a ridiculous oversimplification.

Managers have different metrics they are measured on. They do not get all the bonus money and raise percentages that they do not distribute.

The company may be assessing your value and risk of leaving when giving you a raise and bonus,
but that's not a conspiracy by management to give you less so that they get more.
