Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

The Layoffs are in process

Blame nepotism, blame the 2 tier wage packages, blame the CA Agreement, blame the union, blame each other for not doing to much work, blame each other for doing to much work. At the end of the day I got my paycheck for this week and soon I won’t be and along with many others. Rumors flying around with massive cuts coming to 273 in Schenectady. Those in building 66 will be safe for the first round even those with less time. That will soon change with cuts to 66 in the second wave of cuts this year. So all you unskilled T-engineers will have to get laid off again. Long before you can showcase your unskilled labor. If and when you think you will come back again it will be different. The smart ones didn’t return, the skilled labor didn’t return from the call back.

I will keep working at 273 until I get layed off. You know why? Because it pays the bills and I actually enjoy what I do and I like the people I work with. And if I do get layed off I will go get another job. Yeah, I'm a T-rate and I come in everyday, get my work, do my job and then go home to my family. No complaints here!

GE will survive and so will Schenectady. What you need to figure out is how do you fit into that survival scenario. None of us are a priority unless we are able to help GE achieve theirs. There are only so many lifeboats and none of us will be allowed in without a special purpose and permission. I hope most of you know how to swim.

2jgl+1b5QSAu8 Well I know your GF very very well and she don’t like as much as you think. She uses you and talks about you when she is with me in your bed. Also yes there are more layoffs than she is saying because she can’t tell you. Conflict of duties and private information.

We have been hearing about head count reduction at 273 for long time now. There always will be few cuts here and there, nothing major according to my GF who works for HR.

Yes signed contracts for work in Building 66. The work I speak of for 273 is for continental US work, with a clause it MUST be built in the US. So if there are no signed contracts for location, its very obvious that the only manufacturing location for GE is Schenectady NY. So just as good as signed contracts. Add to that the R and D production work being sent into Schenectady, that equals some work. Yes, everyone should always be prepared for the bottom to fall out, but running ones mouth day after day with bu-----t, is just that, bu-----t!!

Face it. If you work for GE remember this rule. It’s not if you’ll get laid off , it’s a matter of when. Prepare for the next chapter of your journey. Save up your bucks, dump any GE stock you may have and build up your skill set.

1tjx+1b5QSAu8- your wrong there are layoffs coming in 2021 for Schenectady and could include building 66. Yes the company said there is work but are those signed deals and work for 273 and 66 or is the company hoping for that work? So I’m leaning towards layoffs coming and more work to be piled on one guy.

I cant wrap my head around the activity of always talking sh-t, when in reality you and many others have ZERO idea what they are talking about. There isn't ANY layoffs in Schenectady hourly jobs in 2021, and with the recent increase in orders for 2022, prob not any then either. Building 66 doesn't have enough hourly and salary for the orders for this and the next 3 years, and in fact are hiring people as we type. 273 has no gotten more orders for 2022 and 2023 then they have for 2021 so they clearly wont be laying off in that building either. So once again, pesky little ole facts always seem to get in the way with mo--ns that have nothing better to do than run their mouths and fingers on a keyboard.

I was from 273 in 2018 and I used to be a stupid t rate, but now I am one of the "smart ones" and I just want to say that I hate stinky whining t rates. You all liked the D rates until you got comfortable and then you wanted to be a fat whiney rat. So your pink slip is coming. So enjoy your OT and Barb Snack shack
